Yes, looks like transplant shock. Even if you water a lot, the roots aren't established enough to bring the water to the leaves and they dry up. And they can't resist the sun, so they burn. I would simply remove the burned leaves. You could shade them a bit or even mist them to cool them off and prevent them from losing internal moisture. And lay off the MG. MG is great for annuals and tomatoes, but for roses, organic slow release fertilizers are better. Once the roses are established, you can give them MG once in awhile for a boost, as long as they have other food available.

It looks like dieback from too short roots or any number of bareroot types of problems. I can't soak them that long this time of year, for instance, because it's prime fungal crud season here with annoyingly changing temps at the same time ;) Just prune off all the bad and hope things settle in! You'd better physically check the soil to make sure you do need that much water. I use peat for texture/drainage and to keep my clay-based soil from drying out as quickly as the top layers do naturally in the heat. In my conditions, the moisture gets spread more evenly in the hole (a good thing here) when I use a lot of peat and my natural soil. In the spring, it could definitely get too moist if I watered every day! In the summer that's a different story :) I don't mulch in the spring because my soil (and the peat) stay almost too moist, so I want them to dry out more then. Just never let peat completely dry out or it will stay dry underground even after rain, etc! I avoid it in the top couple of inches of soil because of that, and I do use mulch on top in the summer when things start to have problems going dry here. Wet springs and baking summers may not be everyone's situation, though, of course :) Good luck!

Hi, I‘ve been having problems with my hibiscuses in terms of yellowing of foliage. It’s the second year my hibiscus are starting with small yellow leaves. I bought them about 3 years ago in a dormant stage, planted them in the front garden, they seem to be doing fine as they had bigger and lush green leaves. Then I moved and decided to take my 2 bushes so I put them in buckets where they stayed a winter (with the garden soil on roots). Last year (2nd year) I reported them, but I did not wash and trimmed roots. I did the same this year with only one, but I’ll repot again bare-rooting first. (Would that be suggested?) Now, last year eventually I used a fertiliser multipurpose doff and eventually foliage turned green but smaller & the flowers came also smaller than normal. ( I also sprayed for bugs and fungus). This year the leaves are coming out again yellow, I repotted only one so far (about a 3-4weeks ago) with a mixture of multipurpose compost. The reported one didn’t really change much. I’m adding photos. Please help with advice as to what to do to get them thrive. This foliage looks quite sad... Chlorosis? Disease? What am I doing wrong? They’re in a sunny position, maybe a bit windy this year and I could take them next to the fence (UK is windy), they’ve been sprayed, fertilised, but only with what I mentioned before. Thank you.

While new roses are adjusting to their new circumstances, they will shed leaves and twigs and new buds will stop developing (for example., a green basal bud on my new, grafted Sutter's Gold that arrived 7 or 8 weeks ago went dormant and turned brown shortly after arrival, but this week has started developing again, now that it's settled into its new pot). It's normal, just plants reallocating resources to where the need is.
