No growing head on my new clematis?

Hello,

So I fell in love with this vine the first time I saw it a couple of weeks ago and I finally went and purchased one from a garden store.

I got it home and planted it to where it gets about 7-8 hours of full sun daily and have been keeping it watered and fed. it's been in the ground for about two weeks now. When I planted it I sunk the whole contents of the pot into the ground without disturbing the roots.

So far, all of the flowers have fallen off, which I expected. But what I'm noticing now is that I cannot see a definitive "growing head" on either vine that was in the root ball? It's like each vine just comes to a dead end?

I'm assuming the new growth comes from the node at the end, but as of now I cannot see anything. Some of the leaves are starting to die off and I'm a little worried that it's not going to take?

Any ideas as to when I can expect new growth, and when I do, where that new growth will come from?

Thanks!

This is the end of the vine....no growing head to been seen.....

Also, should I dead head this seed pods?
