Delta or Kohler faucet? difference?
Comments (14)I am only addressing the Delta Leland price issue. I bought one almost 2 years ago after liking the look of it at HD. Since I could not afford to spend nearly $300 for it, I found many listed new on eBay . I paid about $125, but there was a seller who listed them new for $99 starting bid and many went for that price. I had a deadline on my Silestone countertop installation and needed one during a time when I could not wait for that particular seller to list, thus I paid more. I don't know if those prices are still the norm on eBay, but brand new, sealed with the plastic strip faucets could be bought half price or less when I needed a faucet. I love everything about my eBay purchased Delta Leland. I purchased it in June '07. Be sure to be familiar with the seller's feedback, number of items they've sold, and that he/she has been an eBay seller for a significant amount of time. Hope this helps!...See MoreKohler Vinnata vs Kohler Simplice & Finishes
Comments (3)Thank you hestia_flames! In the mean time, I did go to a local plumbing store and looked at three models that I am considering: * Price Pfister Ashfield * Delta Allore * Kohler Vinnata The Price Pfister looks beautiful and more traditional with a lovely tulip shaped spray head, but the spout was cheap and thin. While the price is attractive ($281) I could see a dent in the display and can only imagine what a big stainless steel pot pushed up against the faucet would do. The Delta Allore is much more sturdy and has the magnet clasp for the spray head. I wasn't wild about its looks; I think it was a bit too contemporary for me. I could get the Delta Allore with 10% off, so it came in at $360, which is reasonably priced. The Kohler Vinnata is beautiful, I guess I'll need to shop around because they quoted me $561 as the contractor's discount for the stainless steel. I have checked the local craigslist every day, but haven't seen one yet in my area :-(. I wasn't able to see the Simplice, but my son saw it at Home Depot and said it wasn't good quality at all. The Moen Woodmere has all the same features as the Vinnata plus the stop button. I haven't seen it in person. I have seen the Vinnata on Ebay, but in the chrome finish for around $369. Of course, the stainless is at least $100 more. I've probably over analyzed the faucet situation. The local plumbing store had never heard of the Moen Woodmere, which I wanted to see in person. It appears that GWers know more about what's going on in terms of faucets. Go figure......See MoreWeighted Pull Down Faucet vs. Magnetic?
Comments (3)FWIW the Kohler Simplice is the faucet that Kohler's head of development for their fixtures has in his own kitchen (pic on link). Sometimes it's hard to judge counterweights on displays where the faucets aren't really installed. They are clank-y when loose. I've not had one with a magnet but my KWC pulldown never clanked and retracted perfectly. Both are good choices so it depends on what you think will work best for you. Comments (29)Regarding the hot/cold on the delta allora, I am right handed and like my control mounted on the right because that's the hand I reach with to turn it on. It's not really hard to get used to the front to back for hot and cold, there are also teeny little blue and red indicators to remind you which is which. If I can get DH to get under the sink to unscrew the mount, I would like to position that handle just a bit forward (it can spin in any direction) so when on full hot, it isn't so close to my windowsill. That's my only complaint and it was an install issue. I have heard many people complain over splashing on all the gooseneck faucets, not just the delta but it is a really easy fix....I got used to using less pressure (bonus is it saves water) pretty quickly. It doesn't splash at all in stream, only spray and then, only when turned up. I really only use my spray for sink cleaning and I always have the hose extended and the head sweeping around the sides...no spray even on high. My old side spray used to splash if it were turned up and held up high...I think it's the nature of the beast. I have a kindred undermount stainless sink, single bowl. The bowl insides are 27.5 x 17 and I find it a good fit. When I first opened my faucet, my first impression was holy smokes, it's toooooooo huge. Not so. I love love love it. In fact, my faucet and single bowl undermount sink are my favorite things in the kitchen....See More- 7 years ago
