Modern bathroom almost complete - subway w glass tile accent
Comments (4)foxy, are you still around? Oddly enough, for our next bath we're thinking of using the smaller Hollviken and Danze Parma, and here you are using the same things! (we have our big hollviken in our master bath and love it every day). Would you share your thoughts on how the Parma is holding up? Would you use it again, knowing how it's been so far? TIA -- hope you see this...OH, we're also using some mosaic tile accent in and amongst larger format tiles lol...I *swear* I wasn't intentionally copying :)...See MoreFlooring to go with crackle finish subways, 4x4s and liners?
Comments (2)I was hoping to find something a little more "special." Since the big orange box sells that it's pretty played around here. Can I put plain unglazed on a floor with crackle glazed on a wall? I def. want a period look, but it doesn't have to be 100% authentic. The floor itself (in the master) is only about 3x9, not including the shower and separate water closet. (5 feet will be the tub on one side and the sinks on the other, so will have some type of mat.)...See MoreCeramic Subway Tiles? Only for Bathrooms?
Comments (19)Does he have the tile he is pushing "in stock" as opposed to ordering it? I ask this because we were recently shopping for ceramic subways for our shower and the tile salesman told us that "no one was doing that anymore". He steered us to a stone tile which was much more expensive and required more maintenance. (And as luck would have it, it was IN STOCK!) My husband got major a case of "second guessing" and was worried the bathroom would look dated if we went with subway ceramic. I had him look at some of the bathrooms on gw and some magazines to show him that many of the bathroom renos were indeed done in ceramic :) We ended up putting the project on hold, but when we are ready, we will get what we want. Having said all of that, it may be that the travertine, which is gorgeous by the way, may be a better fit for your backsplash. Post a picture and the many helpful gardenwebbers here will give you some great advice :)...See MoreAbout Subway tile
Comments (31)We had paneling on our BS, and I put in glass mosaic after we put in the blue pearl counters. I really still like it. We need to renovate our hall bath. The work we did some years back was not meant to be a long-lasting fix. The walls are at least 6 layers deep in paint and wallpaper and need to be taken down to the studs. We have 4 x 4 tile in there now, but it was tiled over other tile. I would like to bring back the retro color. The 4 x 4's are still available though the big box stores and other retailers as I've seen on RetroRenovation. The guy at Lowe's looked at me like I was insane when I asked about color tile, saying no one has asked about that "in decades." Of course, DH says we are not moving if we put in color tile because the first thing someone would do is rip it out. We had to re-do the floor tile a couple of years ago, so that will stay. It is another retro pattern in pinwheel B&W. I would like to take the tub out and put in a shower pan, but I can't win that battle. Of course, if we went with B&W wall tile, we could look at subway....See Morekats737
