Elfa sale - mix Elfa with Closet Maid or Rubber Maid components?
Comments (2)I can tell you that the slots on the standards don't always line up. They may *look* similar, but they can be 1/8 of an inch off, in spacing vertically, horizontally, etc. I bought one brand at one store for one room, and a different brand at another store for another room. I thought, oh, I'll use this extra bracket in there. Nope--wouldn't fit. (I'll admit that one of them was Closet Maid and the other was God-knows-what from my local "real" lumber/hardware store.) So check that before you make any definite plans. You can get liners for the wire-grid baskets, I thought....See MoreElkay Crosstown vs Elkay Lustertone vs Other brands
Comments (59)O.P. here. Wow. So many comments on this thread, even a year later! For the record, we still are really pleased with our Kraus sink and think it provided great bang for the buck. I'm also really glad we went with the single, large basin. The grid on the bottom has also been super functional and useful. Zookeeper - that faucet is the Moen Solidad single-handle high-arc pull-out faucet in stainless. Unfortunately, it is not made anymore; it actually is a faucet we purchased several years ago. I considered buying a new one when we replaced the counters and sink, but couldn't find a well-reviewed faucet that I liked as much, never mind the cost. We did end up getting a part replacement from Moen because the pullout head was a bit loose, but they were great about it and stood behind their product. I'm glad we kept the faucet. You might try to browse eBay. We have had good luck with Moen faucets throughout our house. Like many companies, they might be suffering slightly from the "not as good as the old product" affliction, but overall they are still great, and their faucets don't cost a small fortune. Kohler faucets on the other hand - never again. We purchased a kitchen faucet from them (the predecessor to this Moen) that had a chemical reaction with our well water and leached foam into our drinking water! It was a known issue with that faucet, and the company replaced it, assuring me it wouldn't happen again. Well it did. They sent me the same junk. I was furious and they ended up issuing me a refund....See MoreDuctless mini split : Mitsubish vs. other cheap brands
Comments (1)"Why someone would buy Mitsubishi/Carrier when there is much cheaper option." Because Mitsubishi is an established brand with a good reputation - the others are...... well....... as a rule, an unknown. Note that you can buy a Mitsubishi Mr Cool DIY system for around $1500, but finding a reputable installer may be a challenge (because they can no longer bury the labor charge and/or can't mark up the equipment). The smallest Mr Cool, I believe is 12,000BTU which is too big for your needs. Mitsubishi make smaller units but not in the DIY series, so you end up getting screwed by the contractor again!...See MoreReputable Porcelain Tile Brands - Daltile vs. others
Comments (0)I'm looking for large square pieces of porcelain tile (anything 36"x36"+) for full flooring on my main level. I was recommended by a family friend to check out Daltile. I found a tile that I liked but after doing a quick google search, their reviews are leaving me weary. Has anyone had a personal experience working with this company and their products? If Daltile is not recommended, what brands would you recommend for this project? Needs to be durable since it's the main floor....See More- 7 years ago
