Name That Plant!

Some of wildflowers planted ID please

Hi thanks for all the help so far. I from my previous postings mentioned I threw wildflower seeds down with no idea what I was planting. Second year gardening and wanted a wildflower section. Anyway I thinned it out a little too many plants broke and just died not surviving transplantation. Please help me with these for now until the others come up.

Thanks in Canada. The wildflower seed package came from Florida.

The last 2 are Clarkia elegans. Third one down is a Poppy of some description. I could guess at the others but there's not much point. Can you repost when you have some flowers?

If you want 'wild flowers' in future the best plan is to get seed which is local to your area. Many wild flower mixes are collected and packed in places which have very different flora from the grower's. Seed from Florida would not be a good match for a garden in Canada.

Alternatively, forget the 'wild flower' concept and just get packs of hardy annuals. (ie ones that can be direct sown.)

thanks for the advice it was gifted to me so i just planted :) next time for sure i am will follow your advice ;)

Last year I got several yellow squash off of a volunteer. They didn't taste as good as cultivated squash, though. I think they were cross pollinated with something wild, so the flavor wasn't the same. But I've been perfectly happy with non-edible pumpkins and gourds from volunteers. This year I had a volunteer pumpkin vine grow straight up the cup plants. It grew to the top of those 10' tall plants. It was amusing to see. I ended up cutting it back because it started to pull the plants down.

Thanks, Jolana, for the watering tips and to everyone who provided responses and links. It certainly is a beautiful plant and images of the bloom are really gorgeous. Thanks to the person at the Fall Swap that gave it to me, too. I'm loving it. I may not know the names of all the plants, but I'm getting there, lol. Ok.... I brought out the first one to take a brighter picture instead of it being all bunched in and..... do you see what I see? Way down in the pot is a little window blind tag that says, "Red Cestrum!" Yippee! I now love window blind tags... who knew? Again, thanks to the person who gave this plant at the swap and who so thoughtfully tagged it for a dummy like me! A huge thanks to Roselee, too! yes, it totally could be. This house had a well tended garden, but in the last couple years I think the owner had some health issues, and we all know how fast weed can take over. I was curious so I let it go, one of the few I did let go. I can't see the leaves at all, they are under the cover of the hosta, and I don't think they are very attractive. But, that particular yellow colored bloom and flower shape seems to look nice to me with the lupine. I'd like to try and emulate that look with something with nicer foliage. If anyone has any suggestions as to what my bloom with the lupine and resemble that sort of color and light, airy, flower, I'd love to hear them. Thank you linaria_gw!

I agree there is not much point in guessing at this point, however...

#1 could be a Centaurea

#2 could be a Coreopsis
