Talk to me about niches... Input needed please!
Comments (14)i had two niches placed in our shower... one is in full view across from the door centered on the wall with 2 shelves and i try to keep it alittle 'nicer' looking with my bottle selections...(though, i don't worry about it too much since it's just us in there! if giving a grand tour of our bathroom, i would rearrange!) the 2nd niche is in the knee wall and i love it! our shower is long enough(5ft) that it doesn't get a direct full spray and it does keep some of the full array of products from full view!(otherwise there would be overflow on the bench) i also like propping my foot on the edge to shave my legs...perfect ht. not inconvenient at all....See MoreAdding wood chips - best option for edging?
Comments (3)Just thought I'd update this in case somebody else comes across it wonders what I did with it... Decided to fill the gutter with mulch instead. Well, actually... I didn't decide that, it decided for me. I left the dirt even with the gutter, and the mulch kept going into the gutter. I kept trying to keep it cleaned out. And then realized how stupid that was. The gutter is mostly blocked on both sides anyway - something I don't have control of. So may as well have mulch there to soak up the water when it comes, and then it'll either dry out over time, or get wicked back up into the yard possibly. Comments (0)I am using a beige/grey wall tile for my master shower and will have a large niche with penny rounds on it's back wall which will compliment the grey tones in the shower tile. In the bathroom I will have a very light grey floor and a white vanity with white marble top. I plan to match the white marble of the vanity on the shower threshold where you walk into the shower (which will be enclosed in glass). What do I do with the niche surround? The tiler is saying I should do it in the same marble as the vanity and threshold. Normally I would agree, but I feel it will be too much contrast to the shower wall and darker wall inside the niche. The wall tile does not come in a bullnose or any type of edge trim. I can use the wall tile and finish the edges in Schluter but I don't love that look..I'm going for a beachy vibe and I feel it's too contemporary looking. Does anyone have any recommendations? I need to figure this out quickly because the whole shower is being held up by this now....See MoreIs a Bathroom niche Miter edge that difficult to do??
Comments (10)The metal frame is hideous and whatever was used in your pictures is completely different in terms of the result. I wouldn't find the metal framing to be acceptable at all. It reminds me of a miniature framed shower :-). What does your GC say when you show him the pictures. Obviously you can achieve the aesthetic result you want since it was done in those pictures....See More- 7 years ago
