ever watch shark tank ?
Comments (14)I've watched it pretty much since it came on here. It originated in Japan as I understand 10+ years ago. I really wonder about a lot of the people who go on there, have they ever watched the show? Sheesh. Doing the same stupid things. "I think it's worth 10 million dollars because it could take off and be the next big thing!!!" That's when I wait for O'Leary and Cuban to slap some sense into them. You can also tell some of them are just scam artists, like the one with his wine in a glass. He never intended to make a deal. He just wanted the television exposure. I've seen his footwash in a store and laughed. No way would I buy it, just on principle. I'm surprised the producers let them use the show that way. Anyway, it's one of few shows I actually watch regularly although I do catch it online if I miss it. You can see it a number of places, including ABC's website....See MoreOne thing about Shark Tank
Comments (21)Lori doesn't own the show, contrary to what she may think! LOL But my point is that if the others wanted to make an offer they could have and often when others want to make an offer they speak up loudly and say something like "my deal is better" or whatever. Actually, Mark Cuban is the one who started the "you have to take my offer RIGHT NOW" approach. Others, including Lori, have copied it but don't have the same impact as Cuban. Daymond, as I recall, was the one indicating that he WOULD drop out if it wasn't accepted immediately. The entrepreneur had the chance to present his proposal to the others and considering Herjevec and Cuban are both conversant in the field they either or both would have been far better partners. They didn't show much interest to the entrepreneur and he accepted the offer. I maintain there was a lot we didn't see. Robert is usually a very meek, polite person on there, jovial and even jokes when he loses a deal. I suspect that Lori did some heavy duty gloating that wasn't broadcast and offended the others causing the walk off. I don't think it was staged, simply not given the whole story. It's like when people post things and ask opinions or for support when they hold back pertinent info. Can't really make an intelligent comment on it when they do that. What I do find amusing and interesting is how Barbara and Lori teamed up on a deal for the first time. They hate each others' guts and it's very clear. I got such a laugh when Lori threw one of her temper tantrums and Barbara told her to get over it. They don't sit near each other, or there'd be quite a catfight perhaps! LOL Jasdip, I think I saw the episode you referenced where they tore up the checks. I have a feeling that there's a number of deals that don't go through. Dragons Den is different than Shark Tank in that the Dragons often put the caveat "subject to due diligence" or something to that effect in the offer. The old guy who owned Boston Pizza and Mr Tire seemed to say it about 1 out of every 3 proposals. It's never stated on Shark Tank broadcasts anyway but I'm sure it's a caveat of going on the show. And there's a number of people who go on there just for promotion. The one guy who was selling wine by the glass was a perfect example. I liked when Robert walked out on his second appearance. It was so obvious and he was dangling a carrot for Kevin and I'm really surprised Kevin kept biting at it. He really wanted it but it was obvious to me that there would be no deal made, just trying to get airtime like a media hog. He used the same script both times he was on. I wouldn't have broadcast either of them had I produced the show. i imagine they have plenty of other options for the broadcast time....See MoreHave you ever won anything?
Comments (30)When I was in college I won a makeover and a Butte Knit suit of my choosing from a dept. store. I had the makeover and haircut and got to keep my choice of make-up line. I chose Clinique and when I picked out the suit I just got the most expensive one they had; they were so matronly and I was 20. Just under 200$ for the suit and I returned it to the same store different town on my way back to school and kept the cash :) I bought a killer leather jacket wish I still had that...Of course the Butte Knits are kinda vintage now. In recent years I've won a microwave and a pair of really decent riding boots....See MoreHave you ever stolen anything? Young or old?
Comments (39)I've never stolen anything, but I can't tell you how many times my son attempted to do so. Whenever I intended to shop in large stores, like Walmart, I brought no stroller and simply used the shopping cart seat for my son. In a cart, he was at a higher level, where his little hands were very visible. But if I was just going to smaller stores within the mall, I'd bring a stroller. Smaller stores often had no 'aisles' to keep a decent distance from displays, which are often low down, at stroller level. Back then, strollers didn't have reversible handles, so my toddler had to face away from me. I once left a store and started walking down the main aisle of the mall, when I noticed an item in the stroller that my son must have grabbed off a low shelf. After the third time this happened, I realized my one year old was a pathological shoplifter, so I checked his stroller before leaving every store, lol!...See More- 7 years ago
