Comments (7)Getting caught up, since I was gone for about a week. This saddleback caterpillar will deliver a painful sting if you happen to bump up against it. A tree guy working in my yard found it with his elbow. I had been stung on the back of the neck a week earlier by a different species of stinging caterpillar, and looked after the tree guy got stung, and found this one. Comments (16)This is a mural of a train painted on the wall around the corner from a well known restaurant I frequent: Whistlestop Cafe/Irondale Cafe. Not my picture, but I did have one of Nita when her family came to visit me, ever so long ago. It's very rare that you eat there without hearing and seeing trains pass by across the street from the cafe. People with kids and grandkids go across the across the street and sit on the benches just to watch the trains go by. Comments (19)I like how we are derailing this thread with talk of cheese. So I looked it up and I didn't realize from your post above it was a mixture of the two types of milk. I've had sheep cheese before (soft spread one) but my sheep do not have good enough udders for milking. There teats are teenie tiny. PITA to milk. Also, though I'm sure it would be good as a cheese, last year I did try sheep milk for the first time from our sheep and thought it was soooo disgusting. I'm sure it would be good in a cheese though since it was very strong. I have done feta before and it was very easy and very good. It looks like a similar concept, just different bacterial culture. 10 years agoOur vegetable garden in 1976, our first summer here. Forty years later, it's still going strong, thanks to my son and DIL. That's my DH behind the pole beans. I grow them separately now on my bean arches. My son found a vintage aerial photo online that shows a garden in this space in 1939!
