Comments (9)I have 6 neps I 'rescued' from the local OSH.. Amazes me how they (almost all 'home' stores) keep them iside in the dark (not just neps, but flytraps & sundews as well) let 'em dry out, then wonder why they don't do well. WHy not put them outside next to the cacti? I don't know. Lack of knowledge about what you're selling, I guess....See MoreHelp ID a Home Depot Nep?
Comments (15)I was searching and I was thinking about what I wrote..."and N. Truncata is even squared off at the ends..." when I realized that MINE is squared off at the ends, too! It's like the last "wave" of leaf pulls back on itself and attaches to the tip of the leaf to where the tendril starts. You can't see it in the picture of the whole plant because I had to cut of thed ends so it would fit in the picture, lol. I was looking around and there are a ton of different "types" of N. Truncata...some are all green, some have thin peristomes, some have thick ones...but they all have really wavy and "truncated" leaf ends. Could you guys look at the picture on the link? I know this pitcher in the picture (hahaha) is more red, and the edge of the pitcher is thicker and wavier, but mine is still a baby, it could develope more. Do you guys think my search is over?!?! A lot of other things about the plant make sense too. It is a highland plant. It has large, very wavy leaves. And it grows EXTREMELY SLOWLY! (The ventricosa and the Noid were the same size at the begginning of the summer!) Please help me confirm if this is positive identification! Here is a link that might be useful: Truncata?...See MoreCan anyone identify this plant
Comments (27)Thanks Justin! So no oxypetallum this year? That's a shame. I can live with the selection. If you ever want to expand the Rhipsalis, monacantha, micrantha, or paradoxa would be an excellent addition though as they are fast growing and very different compared to those listed. They also don't break as much as the aporocactus or capilliformis. Someone posted on one of the epi facebook pages that they bought Rhipsalis capilliformis this week. I am still looking for Epiphyllum guatemalense monstrose. Hopefully this summer I can find a large one....See MoreNeed help identifying these cacti please
Comments (12)ktrayn It is actually better to make 1 thread with plants to ID - too many individual threads on same subject (ID) just clutter up the forum. Just number the plants if few in the same photo, or if 1plant/photo - number photos, and it will be just fine :) Do not worry about this post, at least you can see how fast, sometimes, you get the answer :):):) Most plants I bought that came from Altmans did have labels. It is the grower that supplies the labels, not the seller (HD, Lowes, or any garden center). So if there is no label, it is grower not the store - unless they had only stick-in plastic tags that get lost, and/or misplaced by ppl pulling them out to check and not putting them back where they came from. And there are some mistakes too, sometimes grower will put wrong label on whole bunch of plants....Some growers use only common names and that could create problems since some common names are used for few different plants. Best for everyone to learn botanical/scientific name....See MoreJordan Price (8a)
