Bloodroot

I timed it perfectly! I have a large mass of bloodroot at my current house that we will be selling late fall or early winter. I want to move some bloodroot to the new place as there isn't any around that I've seen. Well I went out this evening to collect the pods and they were to the point that they popped open if you handled them a little too roughly. If I picked the pods nice and gently they didn't pop open.

So now I've got a plastic baggie with moist soil and about 3-4 dozen pods in it. I've read that they need to get planted rather quickly as the seeds don't last. So I plan on planting them tomorrow out on the edge of the woods in the new place. In my old book that I have on planting bloodroot seed it says to keep it watered.

Can anyone tell me if this is necessary?

I can't imagine that in the wild they are kept moist especially from late June thru Sept.

As soon as the leaves start to yellow I'm going to transplant about 2 dozen plants also. Any words of wisdom on transplanting these things?
