Time to make a choice. What would you do?
Comments (24)Well gosh, thisisme. Sorry you missed out on the Oro Blanco! Maybe you can leave your name with Costco, Home Depot or Lowe's to be called if they get a new shipment. I find my limes to be slower to get going out here in Vista, Calif for some odd reason. You'd think they'd grow like lemons (which grow like mad out here.) But not so much. For me, it has been my grapefruits first, which are going nuts, then any lemon tree (even the one that was completely unrecognizable it was in such bad shape when I moved in), then some of my mandarins, with my limes & Moro pulling up the rear. I am mad for grapefruit, so I can't imagine not having at least one in my yard. Plus, there are absoultely gorgeous ornamental trees and can become THE specimen tree for you. They have a very lovely growth habit, and, since all their fruit are born at the ends of their branches, when in blossom, they look like they're covered with popcorn, and when the fruit develops, it is all very beautifully on display. I am crossing my fingers for a nice grapefruit for you - an Oro Blanco, Melogold or Cocktail! Patty S....See MoreIf you had the choice...
Comments (9)I'm not exactly sure how to answer that.I think most people would say they prefer the first life you describe but I don't think anyone ever really has that.Life is filled with joys and sorrows.Sometime more of one than the other, some we can control and others we can't.I think a truly fullfilled life has to have both of those times.I don't believe anyone can go through life completely without some bad times,no matter how happy or fullfilled they are.I also believe that we make our lives how they are by the way we look at things.People who fuss and fret and worry about the bad things that happen are going to be discontent with their lives.I'm a firm believer in making the best of everything that is good and try not to cry or worry about the things that aren't.Especially the things we can't do anything about. ((((Moonie)))) I hope things start looking up for you and you soon find that peace of mind that you yearn for....See MoreIf you had to be a fruit, which one would you be?
Comments (23)jaboticaba, my favorite fruit. very rare, very difficult to cultivate and get to fruit, expensive and has a wonderful exotic tropial flavor. also has an extremely unusual way of growing fruit, they emerge along the trunks. i have had several small trees of these and they never seem to make it long in my landscape...i still keep trying thou lol ~ liz Here is a link that might be useful: jaboticaba fruit in FL...See MoreIf you had to recommend just one daylily which would it be ?
Comments (28)DebbieOn , after collecting spidery varieties and UF's for years , I am only recently adding bagel varieties so am really interested to hear what others have to say about the bagel varieties that they grow . Wispy Rays and Black Falcon Ritual I think are both considered UF's but price has always been a big factor in my purchases and the price of them was higher than I could afford /was willing to pay at the time . The price is coming down so now I can consider purchasing these ones. I only ever paid big bucks for three daylilies . Two are still here but I cant say I am impressed with the plant performance of either of them . One is Reckamp/Klehms Angel's Smile and the other one is Genesta . The third is or should I say was Mapping Carolina . I absolutely loved the look of that daylily but it has gone the way of the dodo bird. It just withered away . So I have promised myself that I will never pay a high price for a daylily again . It is just too shocking to the pocketbook when a really expensive daylily dies or just barely hangs on . I can wait till the price for a plant is reasonable . The suggestion of Shores of Time and the fact that it does well is good to know ,I really appreciate that kind of info . I do grow Whatley's Butter Cream here and Solar Music is a yellow Whatley daylily that is similar. I love the look but I have not added it here ........yet. Assuming I can find it for a decent price in the future I would love to add it, as, if it does as well as Butter Cream has done here I would be very happy to include it in my gardens , I love the very flat face of Solar Music! For now I am happy with Butter Cream ...... a robust lovely yellow daylily although I like the height that Solar Musc is registered to be even better than the height of Butter Cream . I will have to do some research on Dena Marie's Sister but good to know it is a robust plant...See Moremissouribound
