Advice on planting a Bloodgood Japanese Maple?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could chime in with advice for me in planting a Bloodgood? I bought 2 small ones (about 4 feet tall) and I am hoping to get them in the ground this weekend. For each tree, I was thinking about removing the grass in a 4 foot or so circle, elevating the center a few inches higher so rainwater won't puddle on the trunk, and mulching the trees. I should keep the mulch how many inches from the trunk? And is there a guide as to where the soil level should be on the trunk? I don't want to plant it too deep or too shallow. Many thanks in advance!
