I think I am losing interest in gardening
Comments (49)this post had me in tears when i read it earlier. I am that way about my quilting, absolutely NO desire. So I do know the feeling you get with your gardens. However, my gardens are a totally different story. I WANT to get out there sooooo badly. for the last hmm, six years, I have not been able to physically get the work done. I've finally been diagnosed with MS (18 mos ago), have had two surgeries on my neck do to herniated disks that compressed my spinal cord, and am this year FINALLY getting the energy up to get out there again. I'm starting with a clean slate, which is nice in many ways, but so daunting in other ways. I miss all my flowers so much though, that I will find a way, some way, to get them back again. I hope that you also find the desire to garden soon, the maintenance is enough to drive you bonkers when you don't want to be out there, but left alone, it's going to be horrendous to get motivated again. it takes no time for the weeds to notice lack of interest, and they take over like crazy then. wishing you all best of luck! sally...See MoreCan I show off just a little? Comments (20)Tinan, we did the radiator cover in our recent DIY bathroom, and unfortunately, now need to do it in every room because they look so much better. gsciencechick we have a couple. A Rigid, not my favorite but excellent for sanding drywall with good dust collection, a B&D Mouse, great for tight places, and an old Milwaukee that my dad gave me. When that goes I'll buy a Bosch or Porter Cable. Thanks for the compliments, it feels great because it was a lot of work. We had a pro replace the ceiling and do some drywall repair, that is one task where I'll hire a pro every time. Our guy is so meticulous he had barely any sanding to do, unlike when I tackle drywall....See MoreShould I leave food or anything for the floor refinisher?
Comments (41)Inthebiz, I NEVER said anything about offering breakfast or any sort of meal, I said the offer of a beverage or snack to ONLY the people doing work at your home. You are making it sound like everyone here prepares a 5 course meal for their and the neighbor's workers, massages their feet and treats them to a facial. If you were asked to deliver something to someone's home, wouldn't you feel appreciated if they simply said "would you like a bottled water?"? You yourself said "Anyone wonder why its so hard to get good help nowdays?". I think your attitude is why you can't get good help. Nearly everyone who works for me on a regular basis gives me above average service. I tip my cleaning crew and always offer them cold beverages; my ceiling fans don't have a speck of dust on them, and that isn't even a service they usually provide, same with my wood blinds. They do things for me that is not on the list. Why? The owner of the company said I was her favorite client, the crew appreciates being noticed. Briosafarm said it best: In the simplest cases it's an easy and small courtesy; say the d/w repair guy arrives at 8:30 a.m. and the coffee pot is still on...what trouble is it for me to offer a cup? In other cases it seems to mean a lot more; for instance when outdoor laborers are here working in the heat, offering cold water and inviting them to sit in a lawnchair in the shade or on the porch while eating their lunch seems to mean a lot more to them than it puts me out! Sometimes I've gotten the impression that it's the recognition of their labor, comfort and the courtesy of the offer that means more than the actual cooler of water or whatever. Off my soapbox now, bottom line is to treat everyone the way you would like to be treated. The world would be a lot nicer place if we all did this....See MorePICS! Comments (38)I called Hookset on TUesday and they said they were sold out so it doesn't seem like the online locater is up to date with what's actually in stores. I called the Target in Kansas near my brother and they have it, but it's not on clearance...actually it's more expensive then online! As far as furniture placment, We went through all this already and figured the current set-up is the best. There is a heating unit under the window and we'll lose all storage space by flipping the couch to the other wall. And we discussed flat screen on the wall, but again I need storage, so that wouldn't help the sitution. Our house is very small and this is the only room the kids can play in. The bedrooms are upstairs and even if they were big enough (they aren't) I don't wnat them up there getting into trouble while I'm downstairs cooking dinner. (they're 2 and 3). I work all day so it's nice to be able to interact with them in the living room and be able to run back into the kitchen every few minutes to check on dinner....See MorePink Poppy
