Make sure it's a legitimate business, and also find out if you have any recourse with the store if the appliances don't work. The answer to the latter is probably not. They buy at rock bottom, barely worth the cost of doing business prices, usually from major sellers for whom it's cheaper than storage, inspection and restocking labor, as well as smaller outfits who also don't have adequate staff and space. They might also buy from builders and others who end up with extras. The point is, you don't know where the open box came from. Try to learn what the liquidator's reputation is, how long they've been in one place, if they have a place you can visit, etc., to see how legit they seem. That's no guarantee that they're not buying stolen goods, but if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Even some legit businesses do.

Beyond that question, you probably don't have any guarantees from the store, just the warranty, and probably not the kind of service like you got from the appliance store buying you a probe and printing out the manual.

They may also only take cash. That can just be for cost cutting, and still legit, but that means you don't get the consumer protection features that your card might have. And if you have an issue, they have your money.

I'm not trying to discourage you. Just presenting some issues. If you look at what you're getting into, and decide it's an okay gamble, then go for it. Do check with the manufacturer what the warranty is and when it starts for you before you buy, however.

From Sub/Wolf if you buy a product that was displayed for more than 3 years, the warranty drops from the standard 2 year to 1 year. If they are not an authorized SZ dealer, you may have a hard time getting warranty coverage because you typically have to produce a receipt from an authorized dealer.
