Newhomebuilder, your home is very beautiful, thanks for posting the pic. I've loved Driftwood when I've seen it in pictures on other houses. In fact it always looks gray to me rather than brown in contrast to brick. But when I tried it on our house using CertainTeed Colorview it looked a little too brown. Re: slate blend vs. colonial slate...soliciting a bit more advice...it seems that slate blend might be at least a little bit better for our house. Just wondering how much better and would it be worth the extra trouble and $$s to get the slate blend to Virginia.

that's why it's so important to order samples. Go the websites and request samples. usually they're free Eagle Roofing does do canada. https://eagleroofing.com/products/browse-tile/ again, not sure of the price, but I know tile is more than asphalt shingles. I went with a concrete tile on mine. I believe I used Eagle. In the Charcoal. The samples were one shade down from black! look at how light they look once up have you thought about doing a metal roof? It would look amazing on your cottage (btw a lot of the darker roofs have a natural cooling product in the material, so don't worry about that aspect. (being in Canada, i'm sure it would be a blessing to have a roof that keeps the heat!)

I’m no expert on roof colors, but I think that with your home’s siding also being gray, that a lighter roof color would brighten it up and make it stand out more. Just my opinion, but everyone’s tastes are different.

@Lisa I came across this thread and same dilemma fournour lakehouse — want weatehrsd wood with Hale Navy but so many peole say grays/blacks! Would you mind sending a hosue pic — nearing that deadine for another build choice ! Thanks!
