Comments (8)Your sigh of relief came through the monitor speakers, Robin. LOL. Considering all the other things going on in your life, your accomplishment is amazing. I remember one particularly difficult calculus course. I was in an advanced program and had to take a higher level course than needed for the degree and I absolutely just stank at calculus, though I'm decent at math in general. It was my only "C" at that school and I was so thankful for it, because it had to be a mercy grade. LOL. I was prouder of it than any course I ever aced....See MoreLet's Start the Official 2008/9 WS Container Count Part 3

Comments (19)Julie, your sense of realism for this village is really incredible. I love what you said about having a mountain, LOL. Good DH you have, he sure came thru with the water for the lighthouse! Many years ago, one of my first purchases was a Village Lighthouse and a few little accessories for it. I had it in a small glass display cabinet, with a few other pieces I'd bought. (simple beginnings). The lighthouse was in the corner but just looked kind of out of place sitting on snow, and with no water. So I went on eBay and pulled up the Art category and searched for pictures of stormy sea in winter or something like that. Found a few really neat ones. I picked out one, copied and enlarged it, then printed it out. I did it on several sheets of typing paper and then taped together, and then taped to the side and back of display case behind my lighthouse. It ended up looking like there really was a stormy sea and waves crashing behind my lighthouse! I amazed myself with this. LOL. So I did other snowy scenes to put behind my other village pieces. Since my village this year is in a china cabinet, I probabably should have done that again. Actually had forgotten that idea from so many years ago, maybe I'll remember for next year! I think I want on your friends' list, LOL, and hear the stories about your mini Peyton Place. That is just too cute. I love how some folks are just blessed with such a sense of FUN in life. We need more of that in all of ours. Thanks for allowing me to copy some of your photos. I'm trying to figure which ones as all are fantastic. Happy Holidays 'n hugs, Karen...See MoreI'm an official stoner now! - photos
Comments (26)I suspect I will oil it at least once; I should try it on the piece that won't be visible when the cabinet goes in today. Blackeyedpeas - knowing the gender of the baby before it's born is like knowing what your birthday gift is ahead of time. Ruins the surprise, which is almost the best part, IMO! Neither of my kids wanted to know in advance (and in "my day" it was not possible to know), and I suspect my next daughter will want a surprise package, too. So...I'll get there eventually. Thanks, everyone....See More- 10 years ago
