Anyone complete their London Gray or Frosty Carrina counters yet?
Comments (69)Hi, I love London Grey, but I have white formica counters right now and they show EVERYTHING! I hate them and am chaing them out. For those that have LG, is the slightly gray background and marbling enough to hide dirt and food decently? Or does it show every little thing? I don't want to get into the same trap I am in now, but I love the light look. Help! Thanks!...See MoreWild backsplash. Inspired, or Delerious? pic heavy
Comments (36)As I posted in another of your threads, your inspiration kitchen is all about the curved aqua river flowing through that kitchen. It's zingy and zen at the same time. Without it, the entire design falls apart and would need other choices than the grey to pull it back together. If you keep picking choices that don't hearken back to your inspiration, maybe you really don't want your inspiration. There's nothing wrong with having YOUR kitchen be a reflection of YOU rather than being inspired by someone else's work. But, analyze WHY you are shying away from using color. You can do a room with only neutrals, but it's actually harder than doing a room with color. You have to carefully balance texture and tone and proportion and color undertones. If you are at all uncertain of making appropriate choices in any of those elements, then you either need to get in person help from a designer, or you need to do the fallback of copying something that someone else has done successfully. Just be certain that when you are using something as inspiration, that you really do understand why the room works, and which elements are key to achieving that look. That aqua counter, for instance....See MoreSuggestions for paint color?
Comments (34)Hmmm...so I was reading the thread about window treatments, and now I'm thinking I should do a neutral color on the walls and a really rich fabric shade (maybe in burgundy) on the window. It's a large window with a thick frame around it... that might bring me the splash of dramatic color I want without having to commit to putting it on the walls. (I'm sorry - I know paint is supposed to be easy, but NOTHING is easy for me!!!) With the smokey blue, I was going to do a neutral (probably musliny off-white) shade. Also, since I want to paint the window frame the same color as the wall (the white or different color trim thing wouldn't work style-wise with the rest of my apartment), I think painting it all a light color might work better than painting that darker blue. Just my current thoughts. Will post updated photos later... have to do some cleaning up first!!!...See MoreHelp me pick a backsplash!
Comments (34)Thanks for everyones help! It's been a long road.....we had to move out for a bit to finish up. @Romy718- you are amazing, thank you! I will post a photo when completed! Here are some tile choices. I like white and am terrified to do anything else. Here are my options: ( just look at the 2x8 tile as we are not doing the marble).Left one is a handmade/painted tile.Right is machine made. It will look stacked and have some dimension when installed to give it some texture/character....See MoreMeghan Stamelos
