I took a few pictures between rain showers
Comments (5)Oh, such pretties, all things I've never grown. Maybe they wouldn't grow here. I've not been able to bring a hollyhock to bloom; one just sat there for three years with a little rosette of leaves that died back frozen and came back every time, no blooms. I dug it out. I added another collage to my collage post so you could see a different view of Byzantine Emperor, and the two pinks, one not pink. Nell...See MoreWho's been working between rain showers?
Comments (12)Oh - the ladder thing. That IS awful. Plus please be careful.I used to use the tall step ladder to do the privet around the courtyard that I mentioned above. One time the ladder fell with me on it, it was like it was happening in slow motion. I stuck out my hand and my arm took the brunt of the impact. Didn't get hurt but shook me up. Yep, got the juniper hedge done this morning and altho I lay tarp down it doesn't catch all the clippings; and those juniper clippings are prickly. So I got the blo/vac out and sucked them up then decided to "sweep" the rest of the stone areas of leaves and debris. Looks nice. This old juniper hedge was the first hedge plants I put in when I began my garden. It has so much character, I love the natural shaggy way it grows but every other season I have to give its "bed head" look a trim. This time I couldn't resist leaving one stubborn upright branch near the center up front....See MoreHosta Shopping in the Rain and Wind
Comments (8)Very nice! I hit up a local nursery and picked up a couple, too. It was cold, but at least not raining. And our weather has been so crappy that their hostas weren't up yet, but I knew what I was looking for. They happened to have 'Lakeside Paisley Print' in their catalog, which is the whole reason I ran out there. When I got there, they told me they were still in flats and hadn't been potted. I said I'd pot one up myself, so they sold it to me for 30% off. $11.50 for a single eye, which is probably what I would've gotten if I'd mail ordered it for $25 somewhere else. I'm a happy hostaholic. ;) I also bought 'Clovelly' while I was there. Lots of eyes on this emerging hosta for $12.99....See MoreRains continue and the Hosta and Skeeters are loving It
Comments (11)WOW, loving your Queen of the Seas. Your Mildred Seaver hostas seem to grow quite well in your gardens! Maybe I might have to move my Spilt Milk. It has a lot of milk in it, but the color is an ugly blueish-green and I don't like it's shape. I absolutely love yours! The hostas are loving the rain this season. My hostas that are in full sun are growing like chia pets right now! Gesila...See Moremountainy man z8 Ireland
