A wedding party we came upon several years ago visiting Golden Gate Park.

At a recent family reunion at a state park in Ohio, one of the activities we did was painting. My sister-in-law brought along several cardboard "canvases" and an assortment of inexpensive paints. The initial suggestion was to paint a tree such that others could then decorate it with multi-colored "leaves", but in the end most people opted to not have others put the "leaves" on their trees.

The one in the bottom row, center is mine. I was definitely channeling Bob Ross from PBS. I think nearly every time I saw Bob Ross' show he did a painting similar to this.

Caflowerluver, I had to overcome my David Austin addiction of years ago and face the fact that growing those roses in my climate requires more TLC than I'm able to give them. One of them, however--Gertrude Jekyll--thrived magnificently for decades. Still my favorite rose, although all I have now is William Baffin from the Canadian Explorer series and a couple of lovely rugosas.

Alisande - What is your climate? I am cool coastal CA and roses usually do quite well here with no rain past April. This year we have very damp weather with late rains so having a problem with rust and blackspot,.

I'm in the "northern tier" of PA. I look for plants that do well in Zone 4.
