Motorola smart phone; how to install Skype

My uncle has a Motorola smart phone. He wants to use Skype. How would we go about setting that up?

We appreciate any help you can offer.

Android apps (specialty programs) are mostly free but are downloaded from a site controlled by Google called Google Play or Google Store. You need to go there to download other apps or programs. Skype is free.

There's an app on the phone called "Play Store", the icon looks like a briefcase. Or, touch the All Apps icon (dots in a circle) and page along to Play Store. Or, use a PC or other device for internet access (yes, you can go to Google Play using a browser on a PC or tablet and then select items that will immediately download to the phone). If not using the smartphone for access, you'll need to sign on with your uncle's Gmail (google) username and password.

Go to Apps, search for Skype, then download. Once downloaded, you'll need to set up a Skype user name and password. I don't know if that can be done from the app, if not, go to the Skype webpage. Set up a username and PW, then enter that into the app on the phone. Done.

I believe both do have bluetooth but I never learned to use it. I will check it out. owbist; I always forget about youtube. However, I didn't see anything useful in your list. Remember, I had essentially succeeded in making a sim card transfe, but the data was not complete. The one on point post from your list also indicated incomplete data fields. I actually found that my transfer was worse than I originally thought. It only transferred the contact name and lost both the fact that the next contact was identical and thus a subset, but also lost any indication of the type of phone (work, home etc) and listed ALL entries as 'mobile'.

Iowagirl, I bought a Canon PIXMA Pro 9000, which prints 13x19 too. (Is that what you have?) These big printers are BIG, aren't they? I could barely drag mine into the house, and it's still in its box waiting for me to reorganize my desk to make room for it. Although the printer apparently produces stunning color photos, it doesn't do that great a job with black & white. I knew this when I ordered it, but a good greyscale printer costs around $800--well out of my budget. So I'll continue to send those out to Mpix or Adoramapix. I use Photoshop Elements, but I'd like to check out the link to your gadget anyway. Thanks!

Yes, so do I.....but you are giving this app permission to use the camera that came with your phone to take pictures & videos......it can do this any time it wants & it does not have to let you know..... I was pointing out the permissions as just something to be aware of.....all apps have different levels of permissions & its always a good idea to read through them..... I think you mean app, not appt. If it's a Motorola Android smartphone, it comes with such an app already preloaded. It's called Calendar. You can set it to notify you in advance of appointments, and you can choose HOW it notifies you and how much in advance. And how many times. It's completely integrated with Google Calendar so that you can make entries on Google Calendar (by logging in to Gmail, then going to Calendar). There too you can choose how to be notified, when, and how many times. Your appointment data is visible and can be changed in either location. Change it on one and if your sync settings on the phone are right, it will change on the other. To be sure, you can call your mobile carrier's tech support and they can help you be sure it's set up properly and functioning.
