What do you do with your containers when it rains for days?
Comments (9)I don't put mine on the ground because of rains and long periods of soaking soil. I've got old plastic shelving someone gave me. It comes apart so I use 2 levels of it (below the wind, against a fence) and that usually works well enough. We've had a LOT of rain this year, 20" so far. I'm glad I had them up!...See MoreRain, rain, go away! What roses do well for you in rain?
Comments (21)Oh, my -- A rose lover tries to get some useful information from other rose folk, only to be hearing about needed rain in California and a mythological definition for rain. Aren't there any other websites where you folks might "bless" others with your non-sequitarian comments? My heart does go out to the Californians along with a financial contribution of support for those in need. And certainly, mythology is quite fascinating. Everything has its place. Perhaps, there is a weather web or a mythology web where you can chat with others who are interested. All that I really wanted to know was about roses that still bloom in rain for future reference. Anyone else out there who might offer some useful info? CJ...See MoreWhat do you do when you are lonely? (long and pic heavy)
Comments (14)So sorry to hear of your loss. I think since DGM enjoyed gardening so much, she'd love the idea of plantings in your garden, in her memory. On a happier note...Happy Anniversary! Looks like you did some very successful shopping! I love 'one stop shopping' at community TS's...seems you find such a variety of great things. I have the same 'rant' with my GW. So many times I see items that are marked either the same price or higher than the store. Your candle holders were a great find..price and all, they were definitely waiting for you. Lovely cake plate and cute bunny dish. My favorite are the pretty For-Get-Me-Not plates. I love their delicate pattern. I'm thinking their name is also fitting to remember DGM by. I see great tablescapes using them and your other lovely dishes..which were also a great buy. Hope you and DH enjoyed a nice Anniversary with his favorite cake. jane...See MoreWhat would you do with 39 inches of rain in 2 days?
Comments (15)zippity's storm Claudette, may hold the record for rain "measured in 24 hours", but I think Hurricane Camille likely beat it back in 1969, just south of me in central Virginia. The rain gauges in the hardest hit areas either overflowed or washed away with the buildings they were attached to. The largest official measure was 27 inches in 8 hours, but 31 inches were measured in formerly empty oil drum, and even that wasn't in the hardest hit area. Plus most of that rain fell in a three hour period....See Moreletsgobird7b
