If you attempt to logon to your computer and get the message:

The User Profile Service failed the logon.
User profile cannot be loaded

It is acceptable to go into a state of panic then do the following ( which I know applies to Windows Vista and probably Win NT, Win 7 and probably all the way through Win 10) .

Watch this short YouTube video to get familiar then follow the directions below if you cannot remember it all ( I sure couldn’t ). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2REmXBrMLU

Restart the machine while pressing down the f8 key.
If the key buffer starts to ding, let go just long enough for it to stop then press it down again.

You will be presented with a menu screen. Use the arrow key to select Safe Mode then press enter.

Login as usual then click Start.

In the Search Box type regedit and press enter

From the directory selece Hkey_Local Machine

Select Software

Select Microsoft

Select Windows.NT (even if you have a different OS installed)

Select Current Version

Select Profile List

From the folder that opens there will be a several files presented.

Select the one that begins with S-1-5 followed by a whole bunch of characters and right click on it and select rename then add .ba to the end of the name.

Right click the other file just like it that has the extension .bak and rename it by removing the .bak extension.

Right click the .ba file and rename it to .bak

Click on the file without the .bak , in the right screen select modify change the Value Date to 0 (zero).

Next select State, Select modify then change the Value Date to 0 (zero).

Close the window and restart the machine by pressing down the power button on the machine.

You should be presented with your usual logon screen. Login is as usual and smile.
