Comments (9)Thanks Ann. Luckily I left early. My husband flew home from Australia! and I went to pick him up, so we left the area before the fire. But it's a real catastrophe. Both the northbound (which collapsed) and the southbound are closed for the foreseeable future and may take months to repair/replace. I am working from home today, but I have no idea what is going to happen. Alternate routes will be impossible. This is a major thoroughfare to Atlanta and links with another one right at that point. Traffic is always very heavy in that spot, both ways most of the time. So it will be interesting to see what happens. Thankfully no one was hurt. The police were able to stop people from entering the collapsed area before it fell. The fire and smoke were so bad that they blocked the road....See MoreO/T: The Rain Plus a Rose

Comments (6)I am most definitely not an expert ... but I wonder if it mightn't be better to cut the plants apart? Just because that little pot looks kind of shallow, so if you pull them apart, maybe something might get torn off its little root ball. It does look like you've got several plants in there though - this is good, it adds to the odds of success. May I ask, are you used to gardening in containers? It really is different (and, imho, much more difficult ... ) However, if it were me, before I did anything to it, I'd see if I could gently take it out of there, rinse the roots, and put a photo here of the roots. (Then I'd put them right back in - so they don't get dry at all.) Chances are Embothrium is right and there will already be roots in there. Now, those are probably water roots and you'll need to decide if you want to keep them as water plants, or transition them to soil. But if you can get a photo of the roots area situation, people here will be in a better position to give input. What a lovely post this is.
