I re-landscaped our foundation garden! Now about that H2O...

I did it! I finally replanted our (very small) little garden plot along our house foundation! I planted sweet pea butterfly shrubs, apricot queen phormium, gaura, and a buddleia. After planting, I laid down a layer of shredded cedar to beat the weeds and retain moisture (approx. 2-3" deep). So now, how often should I water this new garden? They're all supposed to be "water wise", but they're also all little (sadly had to go the cheap route and bought most of them in 1 gallon pots). So should I aim for every day? Every third day? I'm in North San Diego (Vista area), not quite coastal but not quite inland. Zone 10. Accuweather is calling for typical May Gray weather -- marine layer in the morning, temps going up to mid 70s during the day, then marine layer coming back in the late afternoon. Thanks for the input!!!
