Comments (11)Glad you made it home safe in this weather. Holy yappachichi its cold out there. I need to go migrate to Bob's house for the rest of winter, lol. My main water line blew up right as I was leaving to go to Austin to pick up the windows for the greenhouse with John. It looked like a geiser in the front yard. Thank god it didn't happen 10 minutes later. The whole yard and street would have been flooded. Thank god again Patties husband works for the water department and saved my behind and fixed it for me so we could leave. I got home and the water was fixed and back on. All I had to do was throw some compost in the hole he dug.It blew all the dirt out when it blew up and made a huge hole, lol. Got another surprise when I was out checking on things. Santa clause or that truck driver I gave the little tree too visited and left me more windows for the greenhouse and a brand new shelving unit for the greenhouse. I need to be nice to people for no good reason more often, lol. I was very thankful for those things. Having to drive to Georgetown tomorrow to look for more was not to my liking. Now I think I have enough to finish it. Welcome home Kylie now don't forget to come see me when you get a chance and get your pots or I can bring them to you one weekend if I can make John drive, lol. I have you a presssenttt too that came today. Whoohooo! I need to go to bed. Pain pills are kicking in,lol. Night....See MoreHi from Texas, ya'll.
Comments (13)Laurel, you are absolutely right about sending them home. They are a treasure but, when you are " old " ( thanks Mud ).. you can get away with it. My grandchildren are all a joy but the greats ( I have 10 ) are the real treasures. As for being old, that I am but as you must know, I was young once, a looooonnnnggg time ago. I like my alternative though and I know that Royce is just jealous cause he ain't as old as me..LOL.. See, when you get old, you get away with a lot because you really have a great excuse. Jan, McKensie is precious..She has such beautiful eyes, and I know you will have to sit on the porch with a shotgun in order to keep the boys away in a few years. I also have a Mackensey. I am the only one in the family that calls her Mack. There is nothing masculine about her though. She is 13 years old and in the upper classes of ballet. She went on tour this year with the upper group. She is like a gorgeous bird in flight. She also does tap and jazz but ballet is what she really loves. She's Cody's sister. ( My injured grandson ) who I might add is doing just great. Thanks to a just and merciful God !! The trick to the fudge is not the mixing. Some of you may know what to do after it's cooked but when I get home I will post the directions and the recipe. BTW, the recipe used to be on the Hersey's Cocoa Can....Ellie...See MoreOpportunity for ya'll to get a bunch of daylily hybrids cheap
Comments (4)Hey squirrelypete, I'll see you at the AL swap. I'm in Bham now but I still lurk here since I came from GA. Anyway, the AL swap os May 20th at Oak Mtn State Park. People generally don't sell things, preferring to swap stuff, but it doesn't have to be other plants. I'm swaping one lady a needlepoint kit for some of her plants. It's best to just contact the individual people and see if you can work something out. Most people are generous, especially to newbies. Michelle H...See MoreOkay, ya'll amply scared me... :-)
Comments (19)My youngest son was bitten on the forearm by a yellow jacket when he was a toddler. His arm swelled so badly it looked like Popeye's arm. I ran him over to the doctors's office and he gave him a shot and a script for benedryl to take for the swelling and allergic reaction. I was told to keep benedryl on hand at all times because this type of reaction could be fatal if bitten from the shoulders up. The swelling can close off the airways and cause suffocation before an ambulance could get there. Unless you know you can't take benedryl it wouldn't hurt to keep it on hand for things like this....See More- 8 years ago
