Jessaka, cherry trees can get brown rot, but since they fruit early in the year they are not as prone to it as are peaches and plums. You do need two varieties for pollination. 50' or less apart. The big problems on cherries are fruit cracking, bird stealing, leaf diseases and pests, and bacterial canker. Cherry fruit fly can also be a problem. For your Bing the main problem is cracking, it is highly prone. Very few people grow Bing in the east and that is probably the main reason. Adams County Nursery, the main commercial nursery on the east coast, doesn't even sell Bing for example. So I would consider removing the Bing and getting two other varieties instead. I made the same mistake as you did, starting off with a Bing. I know how to graft so I topworked it. The real deal-breaker problem on cherries is bacterial canker. It will kill the tree. I have so far been lucky, my trees have gotten cankers several times but I have cut out the cankered limbs and saved the tree every time. For the leaf diseases cherries are not used to heat so the leaves get unhappy. I have my cherries planted in part shade to decrease their heat intake. Overall sweet cherries are somewhat hard to justify growing, they don't taste any better than a good grocery store cherry either (very much unlike peaches and plums which are a million times better tree-ripened in the backyard). Probably transplanting shock. Once it's adjusted to the new pot, it should be OK. Don't overwater it. On another thread, the discussion is about heading back a peach tree that is actively growing to lower its height. When you remove all those branches hoping to shorten the height; for peach tree, it may or may not sprout new lower branches. If it does not, the tree will die. I think you confuse pruning (heading back) at planting (when you plant a whip or a bare root tree) and pruning when a tree is actively growiing (summer pruning). There is also dormant pruning of established trees. It's done to remove dead, deceased branches, to shape a tree and to stimulate vigorous growth. Summer pruning is often done to take off branches to allowing more light to penetrate a tree, encouraging fruitbud setting for next year, etc. I hope I don't confuse you even more.

Its still a fun place, its just that sometimes common sense and simple reasoning just doesn't happen. How many times have you been asked a question and hd to repeat the answer many times over and over. A search here isn't the best, but it does show many bits of useful info if someone is wanting to know a quick answer. Try to type in a couple of key words, like for bing cherries, the two words could be typed in the search box. It brings up threads of many posts about the same words. Not every thread has the words, in each titled search subject, but its a start. I'm not the 'King' of anything, but you must admit that if you post here and get continual redundent questions it can get on anyones nerves after a while. In the past, I always SUGGEST doing a search, but it seems to fall on deaf ears. Some totally ignore my posts too, so I don't feel that I have overstepped my SUGGESTIONS when asking others to make it easier on themselves to get a bit more info before posting a question. Every summer, the posts for pickles, especially dills are many and they seem to just ask the same things over and over. Fermenting brines, are also quite common. A search for the words 'DILL PICKLE' will bring up thousands of pots too, and I bet that every single question asked about them as been answered already. If you read through the amount of duplicate posts in a single day, its hard to ignore the issue of redundency. Sorry if I have offended anyone, but I am blunt, frank, and to the point with no nonsense answers.
