I Want Rough Towels
Comments (31)I stay at Motel 6 when I travel, just for their sandpaper-rough towels. Look for a wholesale website that sells these bulk economy/bleach-safe towels intended for hotels/gyms. When the product description only mentions how cheap they are to replace, and how bleach-friendly they are in removing stains (aka, no mention of softness), you know they're made for a-- errrr, rough motel crowd....See MoreRough Linen post continued
Comments (54)I am definitely going to order the bath mat, too. I think I will enjoy the look of it as much as the feel. I have a terry one now, but this one would be nice. I would like to get a couple king size pillow slips just because I like having the extra fabric to completely cover the ends of the pillows. Will probably get the apron instead of the pinafore. I need to spread out my purchases, though. Oh, and I definitely need the bed skirt for the downstairs guest room! Jeepers, I could go on and on. Oh and I washed the sheet, summer cover, and pillow slips today. I put the sheet on the bed to dry and stretched and smoothed it. No need for ironing! It looks wonderfully smooth. I did iron the pillow slips. Looks so nice! The summer cover is rinsing now....See MoreThat was quick! Rough Linen here
Comments (122)Suzie, I replied on the other thread. I think you will find that the linen does soften beautifully but you might like to press them at least the first couple fo times you use them. The pillowcases are quick to press and I remember reading something in another context about an initial pressing helping set the way the fibers will lay. Maybe it will help the fibers in your pilowcases lay smoother. But they will soften up....See MoreRough Linen Indigo
Comments (9)Huge linen fan here! I belong to a hobby medieval recreation group for which I need "period" clothes, or, as we call it, "garb." The choices are pretty much linen, wool, and silk. I have several linen under-dresses and overdresses. This is CA, so I often just wear the overdress in a non-period short sleeved version. I have one wool Viking apron dress, which I love, but it's awfully warm. The point is, I wear those linen items on multi-day camping trips where between the archery and the cooking/cleaning nothing stays clean for long. When I get home I drop them in the wash along with the jeans or whatever and they come out just fine. I like linen so much, I snatched up 3 pair of wide leg linen pants on sale at Macy's. They go in the general wash too. In my washer & dryer, the pants tend to be pretty wrinkly, but in my daughter's newer machines there's not a wrinkle to speak of. Matter of fact, I have a pair on as we speak. My costume dresses I make myself with linen I buy from Fabric-store.com. Linen ravels like mad, so all the seams need to be overcast or something that serves the same purpose. Medieval dresses have multiple gores, so that's always a challenge! These pinafores look fabulous and I appreciate the work that goes into making them....See More- 7 years ago
