Too much furniture! Help me arrange my living room please?
Comments (9)Holy moly, so many great ideas and feedback here. Thank you all so much! And boo - I spent a lot of time trying to decide on window coverings for those weird skinny windows, LOL. As least they're cheap JC Penney shades and won't hurt too badly when I replace them. I like the dark wood trim and didn't want to cover it up, so that's why I chose those and not curtains. But I heard everyone loud and clear. ;) Storage definitely is an issue with this house - there's exactly none. All the storage space was sacrificed for a big open feel, and even the closets are postage-stamp size. Thus the big old coffee table thing (storage!) and the entertainment center (storage!) and the end table (you guessed it, STORAGE!). I love the Besta idea, though! Didn't even know something that cool existed. I am worried that placing the main seating against the half-wall will put the seated person too far from the TV; I do a lot of gaming so I tend to sit closer for full immersion. I was considering moving the seating way closer to the TV, which would create a big space by the half wall, and then putting a narrow table or something back there, i don't know. I'm so terrible at this stuff, that's why I'm so glad Houzz is a thing! A sectional, huh? How does one find a sectional that doesn't scream 80's media room? Off to google I go... :)...See MorePlease help me arrange my living room!

Comments (6)Thanks for your feedback! As of now I don’t have any specific furniture purchased but have been looking. My main goal is to utilize both “living” spaces in the most functional, aesthetic way possible. I don’t want a bunch of wasted floor space and I want it to be cohesive/flow well so it just doesn’t seem like a random desk placed in a large room. I also was curious as to whether the way the sofa/chairs are arranged works for this room or if something like a sectional would be appropriate. Or if rearranging where the sofa/chairs would work better in relation to the fireplace/TV. Would love to update the fireplace (planning on a new mantle for sure) and decor in general, and make it more like some of these living rooms from my idea books. My goal is to achieve a coastal-modern feel, with richer woods and navy versus pastels and driftwood. Thanks for the tip on providing measurements - I’m new to this kind of software so I was sort of trudging my way through it :) I will try to get more accurate measurements ASAP....See MoreHelp me with furniture and decor in my living room
Comments (25)I didn’t fully appreciate until much later than I had posted how very narrow that blank wall space is when it comes to passing through to the arched doorway. Meaning, I realize now you don’t have a lot of room to have shelves or table without creating an obstacle course. This might be a case where a wallpaper or a wall mural might be what you need — if you can find one that really suits the rest of the room, assuming you don’t want to paint. It also might be that if you found a wallpaper you liked it would make sense to carry it through down the steps, on the wall with handrailing, or wrap it around the wall to be a feature behind the small table and art arrangement you have in the entry way. My computer screen does not render colors very truly, so when I look at your photos it is hard for me to tell how much yellow or pink is the dominate hue on your walls presently, or gray or green undetones. So it is hard for me to suggest wallpaper. It seems to me however, that this is about the size of the pattern I think might look nice, given the size of your room otherwise. If wallpaper alone seems too bare, it would still be possible to find compact narrow tables or narrow floating shelves, and a tall thin plant or garden stool to add decoration....See MoreDebbi Branka
