Tinker-my wood is from Mohawk. I think the color was Autumn something. There were only 3 or 4 choices in color in this particular line. I chose the darkest in the line. I'll try to remember the exact color. Or maybe I can find it on their site for you. You're going to make me show my ignorance, but I don't believe they put a moisture barrier down. But we live in the SW and I can count on 1/2 a hand how many inches of rain we've gotten, so I don't think many people are concerned about moisture here! $3600 seems mighty high for a thin little barrier. How many sq. feet are we talking?? I bet you'll be fine if you have a barrier under the slab, as long as your concrete has been down for a while. I can't see why you'd need both!

Will this flooring carry through to any other room? If so, you need to pick something that will go with the furnishings throughout your place as well as the white cabinets. If there is carpet in the rest of the place you’ll want to coordinate that with the kitchen floor. Medium oak floors are classic and are a nice compromise between too dark or too light. Since this is an over-55 community I’m assuming you plan to be there well into your senior years. That’s another good reason to avoid a very dark floor. You’ll want all the light and visibility possible as you get older. In my (non-professional!!) opinion, luxury vinyl tile would be an excellent choice for ease of maintenance and water resistance.

OP - I'm no pro, but I don't think you need to worry all that much about furniture and certainly not about art clashing with those floors. I probably wouldn't put something really light like birch with them, but I don't think you really need to be limited by the floors. With my spotted gum floors, which had a fair bit of variation and a reddish tinge, I had a mix of Danish teak, blackwood (very similar to the teak), a dark walnut piece and an antique mahogany china cabinet: they all seemed to live quite happily with the floor. Area rugs also change the dynamics and create some separation between floor and furniture. As for art, buy art you love - it doesn't need to match anything, and certainly not the floors!
