Malodorus?? Foliage smells like peanut butter and the tree often goes by the common name of peanut butter tree in addition to harlequin glorybower (and who knows where THAT came from!!). I've never found a single printed tree resource that was the least bit complete. Dirr's Manual of Woody Plants comes close but unwieldy and outdated. I do like Phillips and Rix Trees of North America, but again, not very complete. Sternberg's Native Trees for NA is just that - natives only ( I miss Guy - anyone heard from him recently?) I would not think twice about posting on the Name That Plant forum. There are many who are daily posters asking what plant is what and the regulars - like esh above - consider it an exciting and fun challenge to be prompt to respond. Sometimes amazingly prompt!!

Dr. Phil has a lot of good books and very easy to read and understand. I would try to check on some of them. I have a few but they are on a different topic. She should try to meet new people at church or other functions to stay busy and make new friends, but I would imagine it is hard to leave everyone especially family.Good luck.

MissMary, what books do you recommend from your lists, and which ones did you order? I've been in "minimalist mode" all day today, tossing lots of stuff as I clear out the back bedroom for the contractor to come. No, I haven't heard from him, but "if you clean it he will come." I am trying a positive approach. The foul up was after I stopped cleaning, I relocated my entire desk and computer to the dining room. The cable connection there apparently is faulty, so I had to take the modem and the router cables out from under the desk and get a ladder to connect them in my front bedroom. The cable is high on the wall there, since we have a wall mounted TV. At least I am finally back online after midnight here. The computer in the dining room is not what I had in mind, but when the dust starts flying, I want to keep the electronics as dust free as possible. Decluttering and minimizing is a wonderful pastime. I feel so much better about myself when I tackle clutter. Totes are still in the back bedroom, but not as many. I organized several things, such as TOWELS. My heaven, I did not realize HOW MANY WHITE TOWELS I'd purchased for the new bathrooms. Packing them back waiting waiting waiting on the master bath and tub to be installed, I forgot most of them. And bath mats. WOOOOOO, I suppose because my feet hurt I'm conscious of soft mats underfoot? Now I have the bath linens and the new bed linens organized....MUCH nicer to know what I have. When my brother comes for the bed this weekend, he can take all the sheets with it. MORE stuff leaving. Keeping the house fit and trim will give a sense of peace. Nice.

Thanks Wayne. Great points. The multi discipline aspect is what I believe helps me truly understand content in context as I'm returning to college. Which is important when learning in your 40s, at least in my opinion. This is a funny article I identify with A LOT on organic chem. http://mobile.nytimes.com/2013/11/03/education/edlife/how-to-get-an-a-in-organic-chemistry.html The main diffference between the author of the article and me is that I already took 2 years of chem/ochem, but if I wanna be Dr Cori I have to take them again because it was decades ago. Sometimes I can't believe I am doing all of these prereqs again. I gotta make it interesting! Soil science and botany are hardcore... but also helpful and supplemental when compared to human biochemistry, human anatomy and physiology. At least for me. It is an area that allows me the chance to learn principles without a human life and human health hanging in the balance. It's relaxing. I'm sure I'm an oddity. As an example.... This year I decided I wanted to learn grafting techniques and I believe that will help me with cadaver dissecting techniques. As well as give me a pretty cool rose garden. I'm getting more into soil chemistry and I believe that will help me with Ochem, as well as pharmacology. It will also help my organic garden flourish. I'm getting more into permaculture and I believe that will help me with a well rounded and more intuitive understanding of holistic human health, as well as a sustainable garden. Plus I just find it enjoyable. I would much rather conduct my own "experiments" in my garden than in a lab at school with a bunch of kids who are my own kids ages. And yet... there I am. ;) But I'm also conducting my own "extra credit" experiments in my garden and I enjoy it. :)
