Too much of a good thing - fall-blooming anemone

Anglophilia

Many years ago, I planted 4 fall-blooming anemones - two pink and two white. Of course, the white died and they are impossible to find, even online. But the pink? OMG - they are like Kudzu - they have taken over my small perennial border!

In the past, I have done a scorched earth and dug up (with a spade) an entire swath of these pests but they just came back thicker and stronger than ever. When I say "I" dug them up, I think that is the problem - at 72 with breathing and back problems, I can't dig up or plant anything anymore - either my grandsons do it for me, or a very unskilled yardman.

I always welcome their blooms when everything else has dried up and stopped blooming in the late summer and early fall, but I have too much of a good thing. I'm thinking of going another scorched earth dig-up. Dare I?
