Help with kitchen counter-tops is really needed...
Comments (42)for the handles, may I suggest something to pick up on the hues in the flooring? A little more copper toned. you have light cabs, light floors. I think throwing in a dark ORB w/o actual copper highlights would be too much of a contrast. IMO. cypress park Sandra, I like the porcelain one better than the other one. Does the backsplash have to be done immediately? If the tones in the porcelain tile you picked clash w/the ivory tones in the counter, it could be a problem. However, I did find some copper toned ones that should be avail. these are porcelain/SS, and treated so as not to stain or tarnish. I LOVE these for your kitchen. timeless and gorgeous. They are probably not super cheap, but it would be worth it for me. http://www.miusartmosaics.com/arabesque-lantern-beacon-copper-tile-in these would also work. the site is here: maybe they have them in stock.http://www.westsidetile.com/arabesque-tiles/ i like this one too. notice the copper faucet. beautiful w/the glass mosaic. if you got the cream countertop, this would look amazing w/your floors. this last one is a copper colored slate/quartzite....See MoreCan we use this sink with this base and laminate countertops?
Comments (6)Thank you for the response! My ultimate goal is to have a farmhouse/apron front sink which Karran doesn't seem to make for laminate countertops. I searched online just see if there were any "compatible" with under mounting in a laminate countertop and came across this one... https://www.wayfair.com/home-improvement/pdp/reliance-lyle-3325-x-2225-appalachian-double-bowl-kitchen-sink-tiw1140.html?source=hotdeals&PiID%5B%5D=12664350&PiID%5B%5D=12664373&piid=12664350%2C12664373 What are your thoughts on it? I'm wondering how it's described as "drop in" but also states it can be used with formica countertops (I'm assuming they mean laminate when they say formica)...See MoreMismatched Kitchen Counter-tops
Comments (35)Heatheron40, very nice. I asked a question about doing a tile countertop in our guest cabin recently as I feel like the look would complement the cabin aesthetic. Also I’m dying to learn to tile and thought it would be a fun place to start as it’s not an everyday space and I could take my time. Most of the responses were against. Basically stating the grout would make me crazy. The guy at the said what you’re saying I think, he said that modern grouts are more resistant to staining and such, and also to go with a tinted grout of some sort. I love your use of pattern to give it interest and intention!...See MoreDrop in sink with granite countertop
Comments (24)I kind of prefer drop in sinks too. Something about dirt I can't see and a heavy sink hanging from clips freaks me out as far as undermount sinks go. But there really aren't many options for nice looking drop in sinks. However I can think of three offhand: -The Kohler Vault. Joseph posted the version with an apron in front. But they have other models that just sit on top of the countertop. They make the Vault in several sizes and configurations. However it does have a tight radius which you don't want. But it's a gorgeous sink. ( I'm probably going to get one for myself because it's so great looking.) One nice thing about the Vault is it has a micro thin edge so you can sweep crumbs in the sink just like with an undermount. -The Kohler Riverby. It's a traditional cast iron sink that would look nice in a cottage or farmhouse style kitchen. It has a sloped bottom for drainage. I'm mentioning cast iron even though you want stainless because a drop in cast iron sink looks intentional while a drop in stainless steel sink on granite, as mentioned by Green Design, will tend to look like something a builder did to cut costs. A drop in cast iron sink looks expensive and intentional ( and a lot of people like the old fashioned look of them). -Ruvati makes a dual mount sink with rounded corners. Dual mount means you can choose to install a sink either top mount or undermount, The lip is pretty thin so it will not look like a cheap bulky sink. The largest one that would fit in your cabinet is the RVM4200 which is 32 inches. I think this sink has many of the qualities you want but the brand name does not have the prestige that Kohler does....See Moremom2sah
