Help! Who has led lights in glass cabinet with wood shelves
Comments (19)I had no problem finding multiple sources for LED strip lights of various colors. Our electrician had samples of 5000K and 2700K, both of which we hated. The 2700K was so warm. In fact I can't imagine even warmer lights. The 5000K was way too blue white. We ended up getting something between 3500 and 4000K (I can't remember) from a local lighting store. They also lent us samples so we could test them at home with our counter and backsplash samples as well as in our cabinets (we're using it for in-cabinet and undercabinet lighting). The intensity of the light also makes a huge difference in how the color appears and even such minor details as the background color of the strip. We found the white strips to seem brighter than the copper colored strips (I assume this is a reflection issue)? So your best bet is to find a place that has lots of options. I'm linking to environmentalights.com which is just one of many places that has several options (and you can order somewhat expensive sample kits if necessary). There's a ton of discussion (much of which was way over my head) on the lighting board about LED strips too. Comments (17)Tanders, both of our kitchen sinks are Kohler. The smaller single is an Iron/Tones, but I think you're asking about the bigger one? It is a Clarity. In our last house we had an Executive Chef that we were quite happy with for 8 years. It still looked wonderful when we moved. The Clarity is much like it, but has squarer corners, which I prefer, and both bowls are the same depth, where the Ex Chef had one deeper and one a bit shallower than the Clarity has. I don't miss the depth difference at all, and much preferred the price of the Clarity, which was about $100 less for some reason. Overall, we are very happy with this sink. I have only 1 possible regret about it: I have always been a staunch believer in 2 bowl sinks, but I'm 2nd guessing my choice this time...Instead of the induction cooktop I'd planned all along, we got a 48" Wolf rangetop, and I'd like to be able to fit the 24" long underpans in the sink to soak or scrub, but I can't. I'm finding that with a prep sink, my reasons for sticking with a dbl bowl are decreased, so, because of the rangetop pieces, it would have been nice to have the larger single in the cleanup spot. When my dh is in a particularly generous mood, I may broach the subject of changing it...But I'd likely get Kohler cast iron again. Most fireclay sinks I saw were over our budget....See MoreHas anyone added glass fronts to existing kitchen cabinet doors?
Comments (17)Yes, DH and I am making our cabinets. It has ended up being way more work than I expected (but doesn't every project end up like that?). I'm considering putting glass doors for my dish cabinet - but I found a look where they used fancier routered edges on the shelves so when the doors are closed it sort of looks like mullions, but is not. The top section does have mullions, our ceilings are not tall enough to get that look. This was my inspirational picture - but unfortunately what I'm ended up with has strayed quite a bit from this. Comments (12)Yeppers...done it! Our old kitchen, we removed some of the shelves from the base cabinets and replaced them with roll-out trays. A couple of the shelves were stationary so DH used his Sawzall to cut as close to the side walls of the cabs as possible then used his grinder to get super-close, then a little sanding. Put the runners or wood spacers in the same spot at the stationary shelf was. The roll-out trays were from CraigsList, used, and pretty close to the sizes we needed. In some cases hubby put little wood spacers along the inside of the cabinets to make up the inch or so space diff between the roll-outs and actual size of our cabs. In our new-to-us cabs, the pantry came with two roll-out shelves and I knew I'd need more, especially for my Mom. So we re-used the Craigs List roll-outs there too, again, adding a few little spacers to get them to fit properly. OK, so once the doors to the pantry are open, it's obvious the roll-outs don't match but they serve their purpose, are super-sturdy and hold a lot! The pantry condenses everything I had in two large wall cabs....now into one streamlined pantry and everything is so much easier to see/to get to. Must add: In our old cabs, hubby added some extra support on the inside in the way of ripped 2" x 4"s. Not that I think it was needed, but...because that's my DH. *grin*...See Moremillworkman
