This looks similar to the huge one I found at my plant store on Saturday! Russ said it could be aubrytiana. I don't know how to do those links that NextO does, but if you google it you will see what I mean. Must buy!

The plant in the picture looks very nice for $20.

It does look nice in the pic, but I saw all kinds of blemishes. So many it caused me to pass them by and I'm always on the lookout for new ones. Good thing I have to go back to that area anyway :-)

One of the nurseries that never has "anything" is closing for the season. Everything is 1/2 off so I bought this fanshaped Sans. for $5. I think it's Cylindrica and I have a small one already. This one has cute pups coming up. You gotta love the pups. Pic coming...

So what if it has blemishes. The idea is to take her(!) home, give her lots of love and watch how her new growth grows perfectly. Then you separate the blemished pieces and trade them with ppl on the gardenwebs. (Hint)

Hmmm, I wonder how much it would cost to ship her sister to CA...

Worth every penny

Good finds Katrina!! I like both of them. I buy ratty looking plants BTW, Why not, they can't all be beautiful, besides it's satisfying to nurture them back to their glory.

Makes sense, NextO. Something I can be proud of when I post before and afters. I have 2 smaller ones thet were beat up and now have pups and they're so cute. Yep, you're right.

Yalls plants are gender neutral? Heck, mine had names till I bought too many in a short spam of time. There are Whopper and Chopper - my 2 tall trifs. Buffy is a Dieff, Charlie is a beat up small Sans, like the Charlie Brown x-mas tree...crazy stuff like that. Betty lives in the kitchen. As in Betty Crocker. Get it? I quit naming but they're still male or female.

Here's Jared the Jaboa :-) He's got 2 broken leaves and a bit of damage on a couple others but the pot is full and theres about 3 new growths and 2 pups in there. The largest leaf is 31 in. tall from the soil line and is 3.75 in. wide. I'm not looking forward to repotting him, so I think I'll give it a couple months.

Akrrm - I've given them away. When I repot this guy I'll have more than enough so I shared the wealth. I'm such a novice I'd probably rot the leaves. I'm going to try it one day though.

Katrina, is Jaboa the name the store had on it? In another thread I posted pics of hyacinthoides, aubrytiana and hybrid fischeri X kirkii which all have different kinds of mottling.

If you've seen the thread, does mottling on your sans match any of the pics?

Yes, it's marked Jaboa from the store and it looks just like the Aubrytiana you posted on Vitorama's thread.

On Barbmocks thread "HybridAyo", she posted what the Sanseverix site has. Its 3 names for the same plant: Ayo, Aubrytiana and a spelling very similar to Jaboa.

Thanks Katrina. very interesting. So it looks like those other names are Thai, Indonesian, or at least foreign names for aubrytiana. It is a species and will propagate true from leaf cuttings, but with a potful like you have, who needs to grow from leaves!! That pot was a great score for 20 bucks!
