Comments (30)Thanks, everyone...My 'gardens' are more like a few beds scattered around the backyard (one in front), and because I can't get more than one bed in a shot at once, I get closeups. Most of my hosta are still pretty small, and the full bed shots look kinda dumb as a result...I'll post a few, but most I reject...I DO have a secluded bed on the north side of my house that I'm almost up to speed on, and the fact that it's a tiered hill will make it camera-friendly, even with my cr*ppy photog skills...But thanks, hostahosta! Phil- Thank you sir! From what I've seen of your beautiful 'Hosta Vista' gardens, I doubly appreciate your compliments on my little planting spots. Yep, a long way to grow for the plants, but after seeing progress from just last season on a number of my plants, I know it'll be worth the wait, and I'll appreciate them more each year. TropicLover and Sandyslopes- How did YOUR plants do over this weird, long winter next door in Utah? Well, I hope they came out OK, relatively speaking. That warm/freeze/warm/freeze stuff got old quickly. Regards, Don B....See MoreSome pics from today. :) (very big)
Comments (18)Ronda, My 15 year old is the same way, she'll have nothing to do with the garden, even if she's bored catatonic!:) She'd rather straighten her beautiful curly hair. Phyl, Yeah, my 15 yo has also been known to make statements such as:, "I'm going to take a flame-thrower to your roses!" Jen, Thanks for the complements.:) Paul, I wish I could help you out on the winter-hardiness question, I've wanted 'Handel' for a long time, but every time I looked up info on it I was reminded that it's a toss up on zone hardiness since the ARS encyclopedia rates it Z6 and Botanica rates it Z4. I'm guessing it would be cane hardy in Z6 and root hardy to Z4. Time will tell. Wendy, Have you tried "Liquid Fence"? It works great, but I'm so busy trying to get my heavy garden work done, that I haven't kept up w/ spraying it. It's about $10/qt and $30/gal. It has all natural ingredients, rotten egg solids and rancid garlic extracts so it smells absolutely horrid, worse than any alfalfa brew, and don't get it on your hands.... dear god! Joan, Rottweilers! heehee! Valerie, Thanks, Delphiniums are my second favorite flower, but I haven't had much time for them this year, too much rose work going on.:) Ralf58, Sorry, this is my 1st year with CM, so I can't help you w/ that, but the "liquid Fence" works great for those munchers. Thanks all, BC:)...See MoreSome pics from my trip to the nursery today
Comments (39)You just cannot do the comparison because we do NOT have those kind of Sans over here. What you can find are the basic sans trifasciata. Even in independent nurseries. They have the same kind of sans that big box stores carry but with a higher price.:( and when you see and buy all the 'silver blue'. Remember, one need to be send cross the country to here:)...See Morestoc zone 6 sweden
