Liquid Fabric Softeners gunking machines?
Comments (45)I am currently having a problem with mites in my washing machine. Yes mites. I clean regularly and just literally think I'm losing my mind. I've thrown everything out of my house including furniture. I am having a devil of a time getting them out of my washing machine. I have done a lot of research and tried several things. I have found that vinegar (red apple cider by White House) kills them on contact along with hot water. The mites were nesting in my washing machine and spreading when I washed clothes in it and now are all over everything. They spread fast apparently. Sooo I've poured 2 gallons of apple cider vinegar all over the top of the drum and cleaned under the crack down in the lid where it bends with a tooth brush an the vinegar and no Clorox didn't work. Tried that. I've changed my washing habits. Only use Borax and Vinegar in my washing machine from here on because I have teenagers and there is no telling what is at their friend's homes. So I prefer these because they actually kill germs....See MoreShaklee Fabric Softener FINALLY arrived :)
Comments (23)@vala55, it sounds to me like someone is "confused". Your statement makes me think of the Basic H2 product. What they say is that it makes "water wetter". This is how most surfactants work. Surfactants lower the surface tension of a liquid. This allows the product to clean better. Unfortunately a major problem with MLM is anybody can sign up and they don't have to be the sharpest knife in the drawer (I'm being polite here) so crazy things get said and done. I take huge issue with people who post misinformation. As for the quality, everyone is entitled to their opinion but mine is different than yours. I have nothing to gain here by my statements I just really enjoy the Shaklee products that I do use. Shaklee is the number 1 nutritional company in the US and they've been around for 50 years. They must be doing something right. Using their cleaning products is more about choosing products that are safer and greener as well as supporting a company who "gives back" (ie. off sets carbon emissions, plants one million trees, donates supplements to disaster victims, etc ...). No one said they would work better than what you've been using all your life. They are "better" choices that work. If you choose to support P&G, Reckitt, whomever with your money - that's your choice. Maybe making better choices isn't important to you so you cannot justify spending a little more ... I don't know. Maybe you do make greener choices but find cheaper "green" brands work for you ... who knows. You have not really said what products you are comparing to. In fact, you haven't even commented on whether you have used the exact product being discussed in this thread. I have used it (as has the original poster). It sounds to me like maybe you take issue with a MLM business. In which case, that's your prerogative but please don't post misinformation....See MoreMiele Care Collection Fabric Softener
Comments (32)@larsi, I'll see how it does on a regular load, and whether the scent levels will be tolerable. I do like more scent on my towels and sheets than on clothes, so I'd be primarily using the Ariel for that anyway. I'm actually quite curious to try the Compact powders now, good thing I'm heading across the pond next month. :) As for Persil, I don't mind the Universal Megaperls scent, but really dislike the Color Megaperls and liquid scent. Kind of curious about the Megaperls Sensitive and the liquid version too, that might be on my list of things to pick up in Europe. I managed to get a box of Tide w/Bleach right before the scent change, still have quite a bit left. It is definitely a much more "adult" scent than what they have now, I don't think I'll be buying any more Tide till that changes (which I'm sure is a matter of waiting a couple of months). The w/Bleach liquid is also not to my taste at all....See MoreAldi's detergent and fabric softener
Comments (28)@Mamapinky: it smelled OK, but something (what, I'm not sure) was missing. Maybe my scent memory is based more on the combo of detergent with the Downy that my parents used, more so than the stand-alone fs. I may call my parents, and ask them to schlepp to their ALDI to check it out. :) My dad is a fabric softener sommelier, if there were such a thing!...See Morelarsi_gw
