Advice to prune or not of a Red maple Seedling/Sapling

Larry B

Hi and thanks for any suggestions I may receive.

I am in California and planted this red maple from Ohio I purchased on the web. I am not sure this is considered a sapling or seedling but it is one year old from the time I planted. Of course it was just a twig when I planted it. It's about 40 inches tall and seems to grow 4 inches everyday I water it.

It has 2 main runners growing straight up that I keep tying together to keep them straight.

I keep wanting to trim the bottom leaves and another branch that is growing of to the left and was wondering if I should let it go until it is more mature or try and start shaping it now.

I really appreciate some advice on this.

Thanks again
