Any astrology gurus here?
Comments (23)deedee, I have seven sets of Tarot cards. *cheesy grin* I have most of them because I loved the artwork on them; for many years I only had one set (which had actually been a gift from someone else) but in recent years there has been an explosion in beautifully-done Tarot cards as well as this broader range of cards being more readily available. Anyway, I like to use Tarot readings to stir up things in my subconscious mind, provoke ideas that I hadn't necessarily thought of already, and come up with different ways of looking at things going on in my life and the potential ramifications if I do this or this or this. And yes, sometimes the weirdest coincidences do pop up, but do I think they are accurate predictors of future events? Nah. Ditto for astrology, numerology, crystal reading (although I do have a pint-size basket of crystals and stones of various types, they're pretty and fun to play with, and some of my friends are either rockhounds or crystal folks), I Ching, examining animal guts, and other types of divination. I think they can all have their uses, but I don't think relying entirely on any of these things is a good way to direct your life. Do you guys REALLY believe planetary orbits have ANYthing to do with life/events on earth?!?!? What one believes in - and I mean really believes, on the gut level - can have a very significant effect on their emotions, behavior regarding self and others, and worldview in general. I mean, at risk (ha! near-guarantee) of offending some other posters, when you really get down to it it's just as reasonable as basing all of one's life choices on the belief that there's a noncorporeal being who is omniscient, omnipotent, and almost entirely oriented on having direct influence on virtually every tiny detail of existence (including fielding constant requests and demands from millions of people who believe this being is continuously observing them), and may suffer great emotional disturbance over behaviors that may offend said being. And to top it all off, many of these people - often quite viciously - condemn others who don't share their belief in this particular being, or even might address the same being differently than they do, sometimes to the point of murdering other humans. Viewed dispassionately, it makes about as much sense as basing all of one's life decisions, behaviors, and even self-definition on the movements of celestial bodies light-years away, doesn't it?...See MoreSearch Gurus - I need help please
Comments (29)Oh, I wish ours was a non-event snow wise. It keeps snowing and snowing. The guys just headed out with hopes the paved country road between us and the highway has been plowed since they got home awhile ago. Our son has an all wheel drive vehicle and he barely made it through only to get stuck in our neighborhood. Luckily a wonderful farmer, known to all as Grampa, and his son came along and pulled our son out and let hubby park at Grampa's place just up the highway from our turn off. Our county called all trucks in since it's blowing over the highways/roads as fast as they can clear them. It's advised that no one should be out unless it's an emergency. Hopefully they'll (hubby and son) make the two mile round trip without any trouble. It's been like this since just Christmas Eve. Reminds me of when I was kid and once it started snowing it kept snowing until Spring and then it thawed. Just wish everyone could work from home on days like this. Oh and we must have close to three feet of snow now if not more. It's quite beautiful though. I do hope you find what you're looking for. Moonshadow, what a day you had! You are braver than I am. Must be young. LOL....See MoreAnother forum gift
Comments (24)I do hope Carl IS enjoying his retirement. His daughter tells me that he has a "new lady friend", and that they are taking ball room dancing lessons. I find that just entertaining as heck, Carl doing the waltz instead of packing beef! I observed a moment or so of silence in Carl's honor. His brother, Dallas, will still do my slaughter for me, but I've got to find a new place to do the actual cutting and packaging. That means that at least my animals, for now, will not have to be trucked or shipped or handled by anyone except me, and their eventual end will be the same process as it has always been, and performed as quickly and humanely as possible. Comments (15)Wow, so many terriffic idea's!! I'm really loving the black and white parkay floor! I really like that Boutiqueie thing since this is a "Market" and not a normal store. Inside we'll have dairy, breads, dried fruits and nuts and coffee, homemade goodies (lemon tyme tea bread is a specialty of mine) and really good coffee. Just a couple of tables for the men to sit at and drink their coffee while the women shop. There will also be the fruits and veggies, candles, aprons and garden hats. I'll manage to throw in a straw bale here and there to keep it "Outside-ish". I need it to be welcoming and not stand offish. I want people to be able to come in and relax and take time looking and not be intiimidated by a "too ritzy" decor. I also don't want that "country as cornbread" look either. It's Texas and we have enough of that! Please keep posting with any ideas. I love it!!...See MoreMtnRdRedux
