What a surprise to come over here this morning and find some of you who read my blog. Cool! I really enjoy all of the blogs that everyone has already listed here, and some other not-rose-related garden blogs written by super-knowledgable people. Bloggers can be a very self-serving group ... I work hard to not come across that way, and I try to weed out the ones in my reading list that continually toot their own horn. I only want to keep the ones that are genuinely sharing their gardens and their ideas. Many of my own favorites have been found on the blog roll on the sidebar of other blogs I read. Because of this, I make a point to include my favorites in my own sidebar. If you want to see some pretty pictures this morning, my latest post was yesterday's Friday Flowers feature, with photos of the roses in the Old City Cemetery in Lynchburg, Virginia. (also see my GW post about Lynchburg's garden symposium in May) Blogging has been a great way for me to make it through the miserable winter we had. It serves as my garden journal, my wish list, and my way to show others what I've been up to. A helpful hint that I can't help give is that if you have the time, you should put dirt over each node of the vine, where the leaves come out from the vine, so that secondary roots will establish. I don't know exactly how helpful it is but I do it every day and it seems to be helping my vine alot. Especially since I see you all are in california and the low humidity evaporates a lot of the water before it gets to the end of the vine, these secondary roots closer to the tip can help establish healthier leaves and everything. I definately see my vine wilting less since it has established more roots, you never know we might have a heat wave like the rest of the country did later in the summer.

And, yes, you've got to visit some! You will just love it/them! Funny, I usually like to take my car for the same reason, but there was lots of room on the bus (and under it!). Some people did buys lots and lots. I wouldn't hesitate to go on a bus trip again...no worries about space! Anyway, take your camera when you go...you know how we all like pictures!! Thank you, Rick! It's one of my daffodil pictures from this spring...and then she did her computer whiz stuff to it...and there it is! Kay, you are such an inspiration! It makes it even more worthwhile to hear that people like you get some enjoyment out of it. I started it as sort of an online journal and because I just like to talk about gardening. There is a wonderful online community...and it is better than a magazine! Always new stuff and thoughts from somebody! I think they have retired to Wisconsin...maybe in retirement, he will continue to delight us with new daylilies. I know he showed us many daylilies that are to be future intros...and there were countless seedlings...so, I can't imagine that whoever has bought it won't be continuing...
