A Christmas blog to follow

A few people here have mentioned wanting Christmas ideas NOW! Well, since we aim to please, I wanted to share this site with you so you can get started making things and getting ideas.

As for me, the Halloween got all boxed up and stashed away today and more Fall/Thanksgiving decor has been put out in it's place. I want to paint a couple more things for Fall/Thanksgiving this year and hopefully, I'll even find some other crafts I can make. I don't want to rush the season, I love this time of the year and just want to enjoy it and have it linger awhile.

Thanks, Luvs. I love seeing Christmas stuff ANY time of year. But like you, I don't want to rush the season either. Fall is my very favorite time of year, even tho we don't have real Fall in Phoenix. But it means our endless summer has now ended. (I say this but its suppose to be 90 tomorrow. LOL). Nov 1st usually signals the beginning of our nice part of the year, and that last till April.) Right now I want to concentrate on Autumn colors and Thanksgiving...but still look at Christmas pictures.
LOL.
And that is precisely what our Christmas Inspiration albums are made for! So many ideas, so little time. ;o)

Yup, Christmas is everywhere!
Lots of stores preparing displays & unloading boxes today ...open houses around here are usually this weekend! I bought a little bit of Halloween, Tksgvg & Christmas decor today!

I love looking at the Inspiration Christmas Album, too! But, please...it will be here soon enough! enjoying these good days right now as the weather continues to get cooler...& loving the Fall decor & Tksgvg decor coming up! Jeanne S.

I wrote a piece in my garden column about how to set up a garden blog. You can view it at: www.carolinacountry.com/cgardens/thismonth/feb22.html. I interviewed David at leavemealoneimdigging.blogspot.com for the article. I enjoy his blog and also love Greensboro Birds (she put her link above, but here it is again: www.greensborobirds.com). Her photography and writing are superb, and it sustained me through the dreary winter. Other blogs I like are May Dreams Garden (maydreamsgardens.blogspot.com) and Tim Wood's The Plant Hunter (plant-quest.blogspot.com/). My own blog is mainly about gardening and nature, with an occasional off-topic entry. I keep a separate "for my eyes only" blog in which I record rainfall amounts, phenology notes, etc. It works so much better for me than the willy-nilly attempt I've made in the past to keep journal entries in Word. The "labels" feature allows you to neatly file things for easy retrieval later. I really had no idea of the immense offerings of the blogosphere until I set up a blog myself. Now I'm hooked on so many blogs, not limited to gardening. My cat even has her own blog! I highly recommend blogging to any gardener. A helpful hint that I can't help give is that if you have the time, you should put dirt over each node of the vine, where the leaves come out from the vine, so that secondary roots will establish. I don't know exactly how helpful it is but I do it every day and it seems to be helping my vine alot. Especially since I see you all are in california and the low humidity evaporates a lot of the water before it gets to the end of the vine, these secondary roots closer to the tip can help establish healthier leaves and everything. I definately see my vine wilting less since it has established more roots, you never know we might have a heat wave like the rest of the country did later in the summer.

Blogs and bloggers don't have the same psychology as forums. When you are a member of an online community that you don't have control over -- meaning responses, comments, readership, *followers* you learn the ropes, the rules. Take lukki and me. In a forum you learn that not everyone *sees* things the same way. You learn to deal with it. i.e. Lukki and I are still friends (pretty sure) and we'll move on but now I know she takes things to heart a lil more dearly than I. So, to play nicely w/her in this sandbox (because I do care) I will remember that tidbit and put forth appropriate effort when I see her. Bloggers have not learned those same kind of lessons. They exist in these strange, very personal, often ego based, self created microcosms. Many filter out reality and use their blogs to spin their own version of the reality they want everyone *out there* to believe. Raw talent is raw talent. Articulate is articulate so it's not like a blog can be a total sham and head-twister because it can't. People are smart and do read between the lines. Like Seth Godin says, "the tribe can smell artifice." Albeit it can take a while in some cases. :) But like PW and the R word many bloggers -I think- get lost and the lines of their spun reality blur into the lines of real reality. That's when you see lapse in judgment. Prejuidiced or ignorant? I dunno maybe some of both? My guess is that PW was very successful in building an influential blog to the point that she herself was influenced and she came to believe that she could say and do almost whatever she wanted to. Up to the point of defining what she's entitled to, what's funny, tasteful, or whatever. Because as a blogger she learned that she can control everything about her online persona and presense so consequences and haters should have been within her supreme blogger authority and control as well. I'd imagine the sprouting of those parody blogs was quite the moment because there is absolutely nothing she can do about 'em. One more major factor of reality with regard to forum vs. a blog is that consequences are served up in real time from real people with giant doses of real honesty and objectivity. And there is no delete button. Trust me, I've looked.

Thanks a bunch Luvs!!! I do enjoy the fall stuff and REALLY like Thanksgiving...my favorite holiday!
Howsomever....that doesn't stop me from looking at Christmas stuff whenever/wherever I find it!!
Last night I slipped away to Target (any shopping in the evening is generally accompanied by DH).. Back in the corner they were playing beautiful Christmas music and had a lot of their Christmas displays in place. I lollygagged around there for 30 minutes or more....beautiful!!
Is anyone else attracted to the goldy/browny/coppery colored Christmas decorations??? I think I'm crazy, but they look so rich and pretty and would even work well with the reds that I already have.

Jaybird, last year on sale at Michaels I bought some copper colored ornament balls along with hunter green ones. I had seen someone using that theme and it looked gorgeous! I also got some copper feathery birds. I seem drawn to these colors lately for Fall and Christmas, tho I haven't yet used or bought very many. Its sure an easy way to transition from Fall to Christmas too. I've always loved hunter green, one of my very favorite colors, but had never thought to pair it with copper before.
For Christmas I've always gone mostly to the dark jewel shades rather than the traditional red and green. Tho I seem to have a bit of everything. LOL.

Trying to do Fall decorating day. I have too much stuff and not enough room, it no longer wants to be contained in my familyroom and kitchen (and bathroom). Help!!!!

I loved looking at that, and if anyone is sewing for the holidays they are into the thick of it now. She shows lots of handmade things.
