Morning Glory is dying

Hi, started to plant morning glories from seed 4 weeks ago indoor and they grew to about 10 inches high. Yesterday I noticed couple of them started to wilt from the stem and some leafs are really soft. I thought I watered them too much and change their soil lastnight with mixture of dry and wet soil, but its not helping. Can anyone help me on this? How much water and how much sun do they need? I am really new in planting/gardening. Appreciate if there's any experienced person can help!
BTW I live in Malaysia, weather here is hot n humid.

Im placing it outdoor now where it gets direct sunlight, not sure if this is okay as some said they need alot of sunlight

Try moving the pot to a place where there is filtered sunlight or indirect light. Keep it there until the leaves recover. Is it a native morning glory?

they may have been stressed from too much water ... so you dug them up to change the soil??? .. stressing them even more???

you might be trying to love them to death ...

plant a few more seeds if you can ...

is it spring or fall in Malaysia???

what is the other plant in the pot ... or are those just sticks for the MG?

did you harden them off .. moving them from inside to outside.. for a week or so.. before they went into sun???.. that first transplant was also a stress ...

its always summer in Malaysia, yup those are just sticks.
so you mean i should move them to outdoor but shaded place for a week, then only expose them to direct sunlight?

My Old Glory is in a tub with two other fairly golden hosta. Until yesterday, it sat in this location where it gets morning sun and all day sun actually. But now I moved those golden hosta into the Back40 for safety beneath a shade covering. Not UP yet, but it soon will be. Meanwhile, I'll take another photo of Old Glory to give it individual attention. Yours is looking might fine.

Hi gratefulgardener - It sounds like the Morning Glory you have is Ipomoea indica... Check it for aphids and spider mites...otherwise a dose of 20-20-20 might do it some good...Ipomoea indica likes to be watered... TTY,... Ron Here is a link that might be useful: Ipomoea indica in the PlantFiles

I think they were stress while growing inside...the stems are very long and thin, probably not enough light for seedlings. I would just put a few more seeds in that pot, once they germinate, thin out the ones that are weak and spindly.

Yes, MG do well in direct sun. . . but when it gets too hot the flower closes. (I think thats why) maybe they close later in the day because they are MORNING glories. . . I grow mine in full sun until about 1 PM then they are in bright shade and this particular spot seems to make them happy, the flower doesnt close. I don't start them in pots, I simply poke em in the ground a few inches. I do this as soon as the ground thaws from cold winter. They are hardy lil buggers. I have new MG seedlings every year that made it thru our winters and grew beautifully.

I agree they look a little stressed from being grown inside (not enough light) the transplant stressed them and now a shock due to the direct sunlight. If you do plant more seeds they will live happy in with the weak ones. Im guessing in due time you wont even know which ones were suffering.

If you put them out in full sun in their current weakened condition it will be the end for them.Since you are living in Malaysia wouldn't it be a lot easier and faster to start them in a pot or in the ground outside? They would grow much faster than your sick ones did and no need to harden them off.

Thank you all for the tips! I tried to put them outdoor but under the roof. They've recovered and growing very fast! I've put them next to the fence so they'll climb there and hopefully a picture of them blooming soon hehe!
