Mo Money Tree, Mo problems: soft yellow leaves and dried up trunk
Comments (1)5 meters from a window? And watered once a week? If it hasn't been dead for a while now, it surely needs more light. Your friend should try 1 meter from the window. Also, which leaves are yellow? The very bottom leaves, or leaves throughout? Josh...See MoreHole in Carrotwood Tree - To Buy or Not
Comments (8)I would not consider buying it. The hole is from a branch that has been ripped off. The damage goes way past the branch collar, so it may take a long time for the tree to cover over the wound and rot is likely. I can hardly believe a nursery (if that's where it's at) would even consider selling that tree. It says a lot about the nursery, and I doubt I'd even want to deal with a company (even for another tree) that would be willing to sell a tree in that condition....See MoreMaple Tree Bark and Trunk Erosion Problem
Comments (2)Contact your local office of the University of Connecticut USDA Cooperative Extension Service and have the horticulturist come out and look. While I've not heard the Emerald Ash Borer is in Connecticut that does not mean they aren't. These wee larva are devastating Ash trees in many areas of the country and are spreading out. Here is a link that might be useful: Emerald Ash Borer...See MoreApple tree trunk has problems!
Comments (5)Thanks for your comments. I've attached more pictures. The top looks so-so. Actually, the leaves seem better than a month ago when they had more brown splotches. It has been hot here in Chicago, and I think some of them are sunburned. The tree is several years old - we planted it in its current spot 3 months ago. It actually bore 3 apples on one of the grafts this summer. We probably should have not let it bear the fruit, but we couldn't resist. I'm not sure about the weed whacking possibility. We didn't notice any damage when we purchased it from the orchard. You are right about the mulch - I have moved it farther away. I have seen ants around the base of the trunk, and also squirrels in the tree itself. Thanks again for your thoughts....See Morecearbhaill (zone 6b Eastern Kentucky)
