Alstroemerias anyone?

User

I removed a euonymous from my tiny home garden (meant to be 'compactus' with good autumn colouring - it wasn't and hadn't) leaving me with a gap to fill in the 'hotter' end of the bed. Since it is such a teeny, tiny garden, the emphasis is always on long-flowering (or pots which can be tucked away)...and alstros appeared to fit the bill. However, apart from a long ago psittacina and the common old aurea, they are a mystery to me. 7cm pots were eye-wateringly expensive (at least for this cheapskate) - can I expect much this season? Naturally, I eschewed those dwarf 'Princess' types (I cannot abide plants which have been bred to be short) and have a mix of Bonanza, Purple Rain, Evening Song and Etna. Any advice?
