I enjoy the "new car smell ones"

A lot of things give me headaches also. I usually stick with fruity scents. I had my car scented with "lemon' when I had it cleaned last week. My favorite candle is the "Macintosh Apple" from Yankee Candle. A lot of the fake vanilla and cinnamon and spiced give me major headaches.

I don't care for any of them, especially those Febreeze things you attach on the vents. I agree with watchme.

Uh oh, I like YK Christmas pine or whatever, even in mid July!

Can't stand any, I am always looking for something dropped or spilled in the car if the wash puts a scent in. And the only thing allowed in the car is water!

My car smells like a car. It's 4 years old and still smells like leather inside. I don't do any air fresheners. I never let the detail service put air freshener in my car, either.

A few drops of natural essential oils on a tissue would be nice, and not toxic nor objectionable to passengers. I use a combination of orange and bay essential oils in my home and they would be very nice in a car.

I like most of the Febreeze vent clips. There is one though that smells weird and I think it's the 'new car' scent so I don't buy that one.

Whether a fragrance is of true botanical origin (as real perfume is) or is from a chemistry lab, there are many people who find artificially added scents (artificial in the sense that it's added to an environment where it doesn't naturally belong) objectionable.

I'm one of those people. Flowers can smell like flowers when you choose to sniff one, fresh air should smell like fresh air, new cars should smell like new cars, and otherwise artificial odors are obnoxious. Just last night, we were sitting in a restaurant when a lady entered and sat down at an adjacent table, smelling like how the back side of a perfume counter would smell after an earthquake caused bottles to hit the floor and mix together. Fortunately, the air current blew the offensive smell away once she was seated but I came close to asking to be moved to a different table.

I have scent allergies and they will send very quickly into a full blown asthma attack needing my rescue inhaler. I have had to move to different areas because I just couldn't breathe. It happened once in an air plane. A foreign man and his wife were in the waiting area and he reeked of Cologne I was gagging. I told my husband my luck I will be sitting with them. Sure enough I was seated in the row right next to theirs. I immediately called the stewardess and told her and she moved me. She said he was one of the worst she experienced. I could still smell him at the other end of the plane. She actually did go speak to him and asked him to please not do that when getting on a plane it could cause problems.

I'm another who is scent sensitive and therefore don't use them anywhere in our home. I get awful headaches and my sinuses flair up, if I'm exposed to them for too long, it morphs into a migraine.

Even so, I still love to walk through Kirkland's Home in the fall when the entire store smells like their sachet packets of spiced pumpkin, that's the one scent that makes me smile.

Something I think a lot of people don't consider when using Fabreeze and the like is how it all affects their animals. If the air fresheners bother so many people, I can only imagine how miserable they must make our furry friends too.

Instant headache! Another "scent sensitive" one here. I always tell the car wash guys, "no fragrance" when I have my car washed.

I hate that stuff they spray at the car wash. We bought a used car that we've been airing out trying to get rid of the car wash spray stuff...yuck! I have a cotton ball with some patchouli on it in my trucks. It smells amazing to me. I would just put some drops of essential oil that you enjoy on something like a cloth or cotton ball and stick it under a seat.

Like others here, scents make me violently headaches, to the level of migraine if the exposure is for long enough. Essential oils can be the worst as the scent is very strong. I can tell if a person has been wearing perfume, even if it was hours beforehand, because it feels like someone smacked me between the eyes with a hammer.

I don't like the car scents, but I often mist my floor mats with my favorite cologne, then I mist myself. Everyone comments when they get in my car how good it smells.

My Mom does the same thing with her Youth Dew. :-)

Our neighbour who lives in the bottom apartment bathes in his cologne. It's probably expensive (Hugo Boss) but even expensive colognes reek when it's too heavily applied.

The smell lingers in the hall when he comes and goes. I prop the outside door open to air it out. When he opens his car door and I'm outside the smell pours out. Yuck!

This winter my car developed a particularly unpleasant scent that I eventually determined was mouse-related, that would become even more pronounced when the heat or defrosters were on. They may have been a dead rodent in the system, but I also discovered that a mouse was somehow getting into the car every single night. After about a week with a mouse trap on the floor of the car, I finally got the unwelcome intruder.

Since then I have had one of those devices that sprays a puff of scent every 20 minutes, and have a can of "cinnamon" scent in it. Its awful, but not quite as awful as the odor it is masking. The rodent odor has lessened considerably, and I look forward to banishing the scent sprayer from the car for good.

I am also scent sensitive but I just love the scents I like.

I found a neat item on eBay I just bought last night, I hope I like it. It is a Mini Car Humidifier Air Diffuser. It lets you add your own scent. It's suppose to help with static and dust also. Its funny how someone and like a scent when others think its horrible.

If someone can smell your cologne or perfume other than when in an intimate embrace you are wearing too much. If you can smell it on yourself longer than a minute or sio after putting it on you are positively reeking to others.

We no longer live in the dark ages when people only bathed once a month or less and indoor plumbing didn't exist. We no longer have to use scent to cover the stench of sewage in the streets and rotting reeds on the castle floors. Try bathing regularly and you won't have to cover up any perceived stink.

I am always sensitive to others not liking scents of any kind, even though I, myself, love those car scent hanging trees. I recently had my car washed and whatever the guy used inside smelled great!! I had a pineapple scented one once which I really liked. I picked up my niece and we were driving around and she wanted to stop to get something to eat because she was smelling something (my car) that smelled really good! LOL I am fortunate because I live alone and can have all the smelly candles I want and not offend anyone. But when I have company, I make sure not to have anything heavily scented going on.

I like the car scents but DH does not. I especially a pumpkin scent in the fall.

Febreeze had one I liked a couple of years ago. It was called Vanilla Latte (fall line) I just hate it when you find one you really like and it's only available for one season.

I try to be really careful with colognes and creams. I hope I don't overdo. After this post, I will be self conscious. Maybe that's a good thing.

I've got a clothespin with some poms glued on it that I can drip essential oils on. I'm using one now called Clear the Air that is a blend of Peppermint oil, eucalyptus oil, hyssop oil, and rosemary oil. It makes the car smell very clean when I first get in.

My neighbor has a service station and an older man, from a different town, came in saying something was wrong with his car, giving him headaches, etc. My neighbor found about 20 air fresheners under his seat. Talk about a headache.

Wow! Yeah, that much powerful scents would give one a headache!!!

I just can't understand why people are so addicted to stench. I understand why the 70 & 80 yo women marinate in the stink juices, they've lost their sense of smell and are so indoctrinated that they have to have stench upon stench they keep pouring it on so you can smell them aisles away in a store. And one isn't enough. Gotta have the stinking shampoo, stinking conditioner, stinking soap, then stinking deodorant, stinking cologne, stinking hairspray, stinking foot spray, and of course the clothes have to be washed in high stench detergent, higher stench fabric softener (with longer lasting stench) and 2 or 3 dryer sheets tossed in to add a little more stench. And the other stench added on. It all adds up to them smelling like a cross between dog farts, cat vomit and rotten eggs. Give me the great unwashed masses over this. People complain about smokers but put up with this? There isn't a body odor that compares to how scented candles literally make me gag. Those Christmas tree air fresheners? I can't ride in a car with them unless I hang my head out of the window - I will throw up, although maybe I should. Would improve the smell.

For air fresheners in my home I use two types when needed. One is Lysol spray for disinfectant properties when desired and the other is the one that uses citrus oils. I do find them pleasant smelling, I don't choke or gag from it and it really kills foul odors.... like when the marinated ones use my bathroom or something.

Why do people feel they need to smell like a porta-potty anyway? One of life's great mysteries.

I'm really surprised at how many here have posted that they don't like the society sanctioned stench so prevalent these days.

I like the "smell" or more accurately the lack of smell of fresh air. Why the need to pollute it? With all the trips to the hospital the past 5 years or so I was so thrilled when I saw that the hospital my doctor required me to use had big signs up that it was a stench-free building. And they enforced it. It's just plain wonderful. People threw their hissy-fits over smoking indoors, why doesn't the Indoor Clean Air Act cover perfume, hairspray, cologne, laundry soaps, etc? Oh, that's right, it's not fashionable to object to people smelling like skunks.
