Bought $383 worth of roses on J&P last night
Comments (23)Last week I received 2 roses (DAs "Crocus Rose" and "White Pearl in a Red Dragon's Mouth") from Ashdown Roses. I got an email that they were on sale. They were in excellent shape, and the Dragon's mouth rose has 3 new buds on it. I also received (DAs "Christopher Marlowe") from Jung Seeds a week or so ago, also. It, too was in excellent condition. I would definitely order from either place again. Ashdown's sent me an email that they were delaying shipment until the weather cooled a little....and then the rose arrived as was promised. I am sorry you had a bad experience with J&P....however, you are not the first person I've heard that's unhappy with them. Hope you can get a response from them, or either your money back. Comments (5)Will my experience in TN and NC do? Fragrant Cloud is still my favorite HT. Once established it is a robust plant with great bloom production. The petals have heavy substance and the fragrance is incredible. Must be sprayed for BS in the South. I've grown it both grafted and ownroot. Just Joey - I have two ownroot in my garden. I've had it grafted also. Its winter tender, spindly and not all that productive. It does have the most incredibly beautiful fragrant blooms. I have it still because it was my mother's favorite rose. I'm about to pull both out and buy Martha (a sport of ZD) as a replacement tribute to my mother. Cherry Parfait - a sprawling, very productive bush that just pumps out blooms even in heat and drought. It is really more of a shrub than a grandiflora in habit. I love all the color variations in the blooms. No fragrance. Must be sprayed for BS in the south, although it has decent resistance. Peace - I have (finally) a good ownroot clone. Although its currently unhappy because I moved it. The bush is sort of awkward, but its hard to argue with the blooms. There is a reason this rose is so well known, and it is the beauty of the bloom. It is a robust bush once established, but requires very regular protection against BS....See MoreDoes anyone grow the rose 'Fragrant Cloud'?
Comments (2)I'm in zone 9B and I've had this rose for about 7 years. It is probably the most fragrant rose that I have ever had. It does tend to blow rather quickly, but for a few days the fragrance is wonderful. Like most hybrid Teas it does need to be sprayed to prevent blackspot. So, if you don't intend to spray it then I would return it. If you like cut flowers and are willing to spray it every two weeks or so it will be a winner for you....See MoreCloud 10
Comments (2)Very few people know about it as it is quite new. From what I've read from just two folks it will need support and over here disease resistance is rock solid. Also it will get to 7 feet tall in zone 6, in your zone it may get much taller. I was thinking about buying it but didn't due to budget, seriously though if you wish to pitch it I'd like to get it from you. That said, why would it be too much trouble for you? Should be a low maintenence plant like Radler's other creations....See Morecadiarose
