Awkwardly places windows - window treatment suggestions?
Comments (18)We had Silhouettes in our last Philly house and I didn't love them. Do people not like those wood slat blinds anymore? Have they gone out of vogue? I do like the idea of a fabric blind a lot. Hopefully we can find some options that will work with the paint color. So hard!! Graywings - the paint color is Wedgewood Gray - we've used it before (with wood blinds now I think about it) and love the color. This is the 3rd house we've had a Wedgewood Gray bedroom in. We're such creatures of habit. Lol. Here it is in our Hoboken house. Do you like it with these blinds? Or not enough color?...See MoreWindow treatments for uneven window heights?
Comments (10)I'd consider simple blinds everywhere, with no valances, and only doing the bottom two-thirds of the tall windows. If you don't have small children, you could even use a bottom up on the tall windows so that the stack would be at the bottom when open. For color, if you are looking for a warm, barely gray, neutral, you might want to look at SW popular gray cut down 50%. It's a nice neutral that has some life to it, changing moods in different lighting throughout the dat and works well with almost anything. We used it in our old house and are using it again in our new house. To be perfectly honest, I don't see undertones well when selecting paint and after lucking into it in the old house, I was pretty sure it would be safe in the new. Even though we had used it before I still painted poster boards and moved them around the new house at different times of day to be sure it would work....See MoreWindow treatments for a bay window
Comments (5)If this is a first floor room you might need to cover the entire window? If so, I would consider plantation shutters. If it is a second story room you could just go with cafe shutters or cafe curtains. I much prefer natural light rather than using shades....See MoreWindow Treatment for front-facing window over stairs
Comments (11)Well, they'll probably climb up on the bench! If it's mostly daytime privacy needed there, you could also look at reflective film. It will block the view inside as long as it's brighter outside than inside. So at night, if you have lights on inside, people can see through it on the outside. If you have a bright porch light, it might provide some reflection, even at night. Here's a window similar to yours with the frosted film only on the bottom panes. Reflective film would be less noticeable....See Moreingrid_vc so. CA zone 9
