First off, I'll say i'm from north eastern Missouri..

I have a different type of grass that grows inside my fence area. I have a 50x50 fence that my dogs use but I have a complete different type of grass that pops up in this location in patches and is a complete pain to cut. It grows much bigger, faster, and thicker and also holds in water a lot more than the rest of my yard. These patches are a complete pain because I either have to mow this area twice as fast as the rest of my yard or deal with the mower clogging if i wait normal time like the rest of my yard needs.

At this point, I would almost prefer only having the clover inside the fence because at least it would be uniform and easy to mow.

Is there someone that can identify this larger type of grass and can maybe suggest a possible solution to either getting rid of this type of grass or getting a different type of grass to grow that would be a more even cut?
