An Interpretation of Augusta Luise
Comments (25)Oz, I'm sorry your Munstead Wood lightened up in the heat, but I can imagine that even when it's not temperature hot, the strength of your sun's rays, due to their angle, is so much greater than here. That's got have a bleaching effect. I've found over the years that Ebb Tide is about the worst to bleach out. When ET was younger I literally got some blooms that were almost white. I wonder if AL has some pigments that fade more easily than others, so that in your summer sun the less transient pigments (reds?) are the ones that persist and give those petals their brightness. Just some late night musings. Diane...See MoreAugusta Luise in PNW?

Comments (24)Wow! I’m impressed with your AL blooms, Helen and Summers! They’re absolutely gorgeous with those varied colors and all those ruffled petals. I certainly didn’t need another rose, but I’m sure glad I got one when it was available. Mine has a fat bud, and I can’t wait to see what it looks like when it opens. I’m very excited for it to bloom, and I think of Diane every time I look at it. It’s cloudy with cool temps right now, so that bud is taking its sweet time opening. My anticipation is building each day. Seeing yours just makes me all the more excited. Lisa...See MoreAugusta Luise - My Favorite 2019 Rose
Comments (17)So gorgeous, Ann. My ordering experience was also 3 crashes during the process. Thank you, Diane, for introducing us to this rose. She's my favorite rose of all time. Mine took off surprisingly well in growth for this zone. My season is short, so she didn't have a whole lot of time to produce a lot of blooms. 2020 will be her year. I would like to see companion roses and perennials she has been paired with. Mine is planted with Poseidon and Blue Paradise phlox....See Morevickysgarden
