Do I need to do anything to my blueberry bush or is it in good shape?

This is a new blueberry variety named Peach Sorbet. The bright green is all new growth. Those canes also seemed to have grown taller than when I first purchased it about two weeks ago. I understand that the foliage of this particular variety is different from others but the new growth is definitely very light...I'm not sure if they darken in time...

The two canes on the right that leave the picture are also pretty tall. I pruned some around the middle of the plant but every cane I left had some blueberries or some starts to buds at the tip. I don't want to go fruitless this summer.

So actually I have 3 to plant and I just took a look at the roots of each. One was so root bound that the roots were a solid mass of very fine hairs. The plant looked like it came out of a pot 4" wide and about 10" deep, almost like a tube of roots. I had to break up the mass a little and chunks of the stuff came off in my hand. I'm assuming that's a good thing. So I broke off a bunch of the stuff and reduced the mass of roots to about 1/2. I've got them soaking in water now and will go back out and pot them in a little while. It's amazing how few real looking roots there are on a small blueberry bush.

Adult mango trees can take brief periods down to 28 F. without any significant damage. Younger trees can be more sensitive to cold, but absent a hard freeze, even a heavy frost won't usually kill your mango tree. New foliage that is not hardened off will burn off with cold windy conditions. Of course, if you can avoid subjecting your tree to frost, the tree will do much better in the long run. Frost in the Tampa area and even in the Fort Lauderdale area is not that uncommon. We have had 3 or 4 fairly heavy frosts each year over the past two years. We had a warmer number of years before that, but the present frost occurence represents a much more normal weather pattern than was the warmer, less frost occurring years. Harry

From those pictures I would say I am 95% sure you have some variety of Rabbiteye blueberries, this is the type of blueberries that are native to the southeastern US. If that picture is recent I would guess they are a later ripening variety or you live on the northern edge of the range where rabbiteye blueberries grow, here in Louisiana the last of my 12 varieties blueberries are ripening now. p,s, rabbiteye blueberries will turn pink before they turn blue

Ignore the fact they have fruit. Hollies, cotoneaster, mahonias, beautyberry and various other common landscaping shrubs produce fruit as well - often one of their major features - and are frequently used in foundation plantings. Why should blueberries be different just because their fruit is edible? As long as your soil suits their needs, there is nothing more complicated about growing blueberries than any other sort of berried shrub. It makes a difference what kind you choose. Rabbiteye type are not well suited to colder winter climates nor are southern highbush types. But low bush (wild types), northern highbush and half highs all do very well under the right soil conditions, One variety in particular to consider is 'Toro', a northern highbush blueberry that is a very productive plant with large, very juicy and sweet berries. It makes a medium sized, mounded shrub 4-5' tall and 3-4' wide without pruning, is sometimes used as a hedge and gets gorgeous red and burgundy colored fall foliage. It is often referred to as the "most beautiful blueberry" and more than one site calls it out as "perfect for mixed shrub borders" and a "great fruiting shrub to combine with rhododendrons and azaleas". Sounds like a good foundation shrub to me!! While I prefer foundation plantings to be more evergreen than not, broadleaved evergreens suited to a zone 5 are limited. But if deciduous shrubs are to be included as foundation plantings, there is no reason to dismiss a blueberry as part of that mix. I have included them in my designs for clients for just that reason - sometimes as part of the foundation plantings; sometimes as part of mixed shrub border. While technically self fertile, you will get bigger and heavier crops of berries if you plant a second variety. I might toss in something a little more unusual for this, like 'Pink Lemonade' or 'Pink Popcorn' - both make great foundation shrubs as well and will offer orange and red fall color. And the big bonus is that you will be able to harvest lots of extremely tasty berries from your front yard!!

They look fine, but in the beginning they go off the potted soil they were purchased in, which is acid/fertilized. You'll know in time if something you are doing needs adjusting.

If the container mix is right, you'll be off to a very good start. :)

I would keep an eye on the plant in the top picture. The new leaves are coming in a little yellowish. It's not uncommon for new leaves to be lighter color, but I'm not familiar with them being that pale. Without knowing the light levels, soil mix and other factors, it would be wrong to tell you what to do at this point. other than keep an eye out.

Also, I would have used a smaller pot for the little 'Sunshine Blue' plant. Smaller containers are much easier to keep watered and to move around until you find the optimal location on your lot. Better to pot up in a year or two rather than try to make the plant grow into a larger container.

Those are minor nits and comments, because the plant in the bottom picture looks great.

A few of the lighter leaves seem to have darkened just a bit...and some are developing pink at the corners (as is common for this particular variety - Peach Sorbet).

The problem now is that I just tested the pH, with a pH meter, and it's reading alkaline...perhaps just below 7.0. I potted the plants in an acidic azalea/hydrangea mix so I'm totally confused. When I add vinegar water, the soil reads about a pH of 4, but I'm not watering everyday...the pH jumps back up.

What should I do to amend the soil? Should I take some out and add other components? (I don't drink coffee so don't ever have coffee grounds on hand).

If I had to constantly futz around with pH on my BB plants I would simply move on to something else. I fertilize with Dr Earth Acid Lovers blend and water normally. I don't own a pH meter. Here is my blueberry habitat:
